Winter Bucket List

January 8, 2019

We’re already a couple weeks into winter but I wanted to share a few activities I want to do with Liam this winter.

Winter is a difficult season where we live. The days are short, the weather is cold, the roads are bad and it’s hard to find enjoyment when it seems to last half the year. But this is where we live, so the best way to deal is to find some things that make it enjoyable.

This year for Christmas, I got some money to put towards a new snowsuit. I had the same winter coat and borrowed snow pants for nearly 15 years, since I was in high school. It was high time for an upgrade and I couldn’t be happier with the Boxing Day deal I scored at Sport Chek. Now I’m ready for all the winter activities.

We’ve already been out tobogganing a ton and could easily spend hours at our neighbourhood toboggan hill but there are a few other activities I’d like to sneak in before spring hits.

What are your favourite winter activities or things you’d like to try this year?

I just saw someone post about snow tubing in Canmore of Banff and it looked really fun! I’d like to try cross country skiing as I know my city has some groomed trails and a club that offers lessons but I have a small baby I’m still nursing so I think that’s my goal for next year! This year I’d like to take my toddler skating for her first time and do some sledding now that she’s big enough.

And also it’s funny how long and harsh our winters are but many of us adults don’t invest in the right gear – I got an amazing pair of waterproof super warm mitts a couple years ago and sooo worth it! Also Sorel boots for warmth are another fave. Good for you getting yourself some cold weather gear!
