It’s been a couple weeks since checking in for Sunday Runday, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been running.
Last weekend I had an amazing long run while vacationing in the Okanagan with my family. I headed out first thing in the morning and battled the hills and the heat for 8km and finished it off with another 8km on the treadmill in the air conditioning. I was dreading getting started, I’d have much rather sit on the balcony with a coffee and my book with my family, but once I got going I felt great. It was one of my best runs of this training cycle.
Fast forward to this weekend. I popped out of bed excited to lace up my shoes and hit the trails. That excitement dissipated very quickly when I realized I was riding the struggle bus. Everything felt heavy and my hips were aching after just a couple km’s. I hate to admit that it took me nearly an hour to make it only 6km before I decided to turn around. There was a very large part of me that wanted to call someone to come and pick me up and save me from running 6km back home. I have one more long run before I start cutting back on distance leading up to SeaWheeze and I’m hoping it goes a lot better than this last one.

It doesn’t matter the distance, the time if you’re brand new or a seasoned marathoner, heck you don’t even need to run. Walk, jog, run, spin, lift, bend, move.
