Despite having lingering colds, I think Liam and I managed to have a pretty good extended long weekend. I’ll just jump right in.
I took Friday off, which I’m so thankful for since the week was definitely dragging. In the morning, Liam and I both headed to yoga together. He’s taken a couple kids yoga classes now and not only does he love it, but he does really well.
After a quick post-yoga nap on the studio cafe’s new patio, we headed off to run some errands and spend the rest of the afternoon at home. I somehow managed to convince Liam to have a short nap in my bed, which was much needed. Once he was up, we headed outside for some bike riding, playing in the grass and chalking.
He ended up falling asleep super early which gave me the chance to also crawl into bed early.
We headed to the farmer’s market to stock up on a couple things before heading out to spend Canada Day at the lake with family. Cool story: my mom was doing some research to find out how long her family has been in Canada for and learned that Liam is a 10th generation Canadian. I’m pretty sure you can’t get much more Canadian than that!
We spent as much of the afternoon outside at the lake before a storm rolled in and we were forced indoors. Luckily it cleared up for the rest of the evening, which meant we were able to enjoy the fireworks! I had put Liam down to bed for a couple hours before waking him up to join us outside. We are so lucky to have family with a cabin right on the lake with a good view of the fireworks.
I was enjoying the day with family so much that I didn’t take a single picture.
We woke up to a beautiful day and wasted no time heading down to the beach after a nice big breakfast. My uncle convinced Liam to get on a paddle board all by himself. It was so stinkin cute! It won’t be long until him and I will be able to go for a paddle together. Instead I took him for a rip on my paddle before he wanted to go back and we just hung out soaking up the sun until lunch time.
After lunch, we said goodbye to our family and headed back to the city for a birthday party for one of Liam’s day home buddies. The party was super low-key at a beautiful park and it was a perfect afternoon to be outside. Makes me wish Liam had a summer birthday!
We were both wiped when the party was over so Liam watched a show for a little bit before crashing in bed before 7pm. I wasn’t too far behind him.
We had a slow, lazy morning before heading to Lacombe to visit some friends. We originally thought we might hit up a spray park or lake, but changed our plans to backyard hangs and a patio lunch which was perfectly low key considering Liam was still fighting his cold.
The rest of the afternoon was spent at home lazing around in bed, watching shows and getting ready for the week ahead.
How did you spend your Canada Day weekend?
