Where to Workout in Red Deer: The Forum
I have to admit, when I first started seeing The Forum Red Deer pop up on social media, I had absolutely no idea what it was. After touring the gym and seeing all that they have to offer, I’m no longer confused. Jessica and I hit up a boot camp class, which was so much fun and definitely had us both texting each other the next day saying, “oh my god, my booty hurts so good right now”. Haven’t heard of the Forum yet? Read on to see what you can expect from your visit.
About The Forum Red Deer
The Forum is a unique workout space to Red Deer with a different concept that you’d find at most gyms and studios. While the focus is group fitness, The Forum is much more than just a gym. It’s a place for people to connect and strengthen and balance not only your body but your mind and soul too.
The Forum is based on an ideal of an ancient civilization. An idea that is loosely defined as it is inerpreted differently by all that would ponder it. Arete: In it’s most basic sense means “Excellence of any kind.” It was the notion of the fulfillment of purpose of function; living up to ones full potential. The man or woman of Arete is a person of the highest effectiveness. They would use all of their faculties to achieve real results. The balance between the mind, body and soul was attributed to the fulfillment of a life. It was the goal of the master to pass on their knowledge to each student that journeyed for fulfillment. The passing of knowledge leads to the foundations of modern politics, art, architecture, science, theatre, literature, philosophy, music and athletics. The Forum is a place to gather and balance the mind, body and soul. Join us and let rise to an empire of excellence. – www.forumreddeer.ca
They regularly offer unique fitness classes but on top of that, host other classes and events such as paint nights, music and language lessons, and more. Next week they are hosting a growler paint night and a sign building workshop. How fun is that!
They feature a cafe and hangout space, offering Troubled Monk and Wild Child on tap, Rosso coffee, and snacks, perfect additions to the regular social nights they host or maybe just a post workout brew. A bookshelf full of games and a piano in the common space invites you to stay and play awhile after your workout. Upstairs you’ll find a versatile loft space for childminding but is transformed into another functional space as needed.
About the Classes
The Forum offers a unique mix of fitness classes, from boot camps and kettlebells to aerial silks and circus classes. I mean, who hasn’t wanted to run away and join the circus, right? Well, this is your chance to give it a shot. Ever wanted to know how to dance like they do in the music videos? There’s a class for that. Interested in trying out an obstacle race this summer? There are classes to help get you prepared. And if you’re just looking for a good old boot camp, conditioning or kettlebell class, you can get your fill of those. Did I mention they have a climbing wall?
There are plenty of open gym times where you are free to do your own thing and utilize the equipment available as well as an Open Forum class which is a sampling of everything The Forum has to offer. Be sure to check out the free Lululemon Sweat Collective Open Forum class followed by happy hour on Friday nights!
A lot of the classes are kid friendly, meaning you can either utilize child minding or invite your child to work out with you which I love. What better way to teach children the importance of exercise and self-care!

What I Love Most
You guys, this space was beautiful and not at all what I was expecting. I love that it’s so family oriented and gives families the opportunity to workout together. While I sometimes feel guilty for spending my limited time working out with Liam, I love to show him my passion for fitness and watch him get excited to workout with me. He had an absolute blast running around in the gym and hanging out in child minding. I also love that this space is so multifunctional and so much more than just a gym. I will definitely be back to workout, grab a brew and connect with new faces. I’m also considering booking Liam’s birthday party there in October, we both loved the space that much.
