I got home yesterday evening after another packed weekend feeling absolutely exhausted and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Ok, that’s a lie, I could have used one more day off to recover and catch up on some zzz’s.
After picking up Liam, we headed out to do some shopping for birthday gifts for some upcoming birthday parties he is attending and then made our way to Burger Boy for supper and milkshakes. Liam had wanted a milkshake earlier in the week, so I told him we could have a special date on Friday. It was bedtime shortly after we got home and once he was asleep, I crawled into bed to finish reading The Couple Next Door. This book was so good right from the first page and I couldn’t put it down. I finished it in two evenings.
Liam woke up and crawled into my bed asking to watch the sloth video my mom had sent him to watch earlier in the week. We spent an entire hour snuggled up stuck in a sloth video rabbit hole on YouTube before getting up and ready for the day. Liam had jujitsu and then a birthday party at a yoga studio. It was so cute watching him do yoga with all the other kids
His dad picked him up from the party and then I was off to Calgary for the remainder of the weekend. First stop was dinner at Greek Town for Jen’s birthday/going away celebration. We are all going to miss Jen as she spends the next year travelling the world, but I’m definitely excited to stay up to date with her journey. There was talk of drinks after, but most of us decided to call it a night. I went back to Ange’s where we watched some of the new Planet Earth.
Ange and I headed out to Analog for coffee and breakfast before getting ready for our double workouts. First stop was Barre Body, which is where Ange and Jen regularly take barre classes. While I’ve taken barre before, I had it in my head that this class would be slightly less intense but definitely felt the burn and wondered how I’d survive the next workout.
Once our class was done, a few of us hustled over to Chinook Mall for a workout led by celebrity trainer Kirsty Dunne as part of the Sport Chek Women grand opening. We checked in and got an Adidas gym bag filled with an entire Adidas outfit. We quickly got changed into our new gear and hit the mats in the middle of the mall for an intense HIIT workout. I’m not going to lie, I was not feeling great at this point and did not give the class my all. I was not fuelled properly for a double workout and should have had more water instead of the large Americano for breakfast. By the time the class was done, I was starving and thirsty. We hit the food court to refuel and visit some more before it was time to make the drive home.
Of course, no trip to Calgary is complete these days without a stop in Aidrie at Thumprint to load up on some new brews and visit with Jen. The rest of the evening at home was spent doing laundry, cooking some chicken and making dressing for Buddha Bowls for the week before collapsing in bed. You can bet I slept well after all of that fun.
