Where to Workout in Red Deer: Breathing Room
Breathing Room Red Deer is a personal favourite space of mine. This is where I fell in love with yoga, where my very first yoga instructor teaches, where I practiced throughout pregnancy and then practiced with my wee babe in tow. This has always been a safe place for me to let the tears flow onto my mat on the hard days, and to laugh at myself while I attempt new things. If anyone asks me where to take yoga, this is where I send them. It’s likely my words can’t even do this space justice…
About Breathing Room
The Breathing Room Yoga Studio and Café have so much to offer. In the past year, they’ve moved into a beautiful new space on Bremner Avenue that they’ve transformed into a yoga oasis. As soon as you walk in the door, you see T’s Bakery & Café, a gluten-free café serving Rosso coffee, Wild Child Kombucha, baked goods and daily lunch specials. They’re also licensed so you can enjoy a nice cold Troubled Monk brew or glass of wine post-practice. There’s lots of room to sit and chat both downstairs and or upstairs where there’s even swings.
My favourite part about this studio is the change rooms and waiting area before entering your class. The waiting area has two hammocks and a beautiful couch to hang out in and I always try to arrive extra early for some hammock time. If you’re an annual pass holder, you also have access to mat storage so you don’t have to cart your mat back and forth from the studio which is a nice little perk. The change rooms are so beautiful I could almost hang out in there all day too. The have large showers with Bumble and Bumble hair products, vanities with styling tools, and locker storage.
There are two large and spacious studios to practice in, with warm fireplaces, beautiful flooring and all the room in the world to get your asana on.
Did I mention they host paint nights? Or kids camps on school breaks? Birthday parties? Workshops? Retreats? Yeah, they have everything your yoga loving self could ever want.

What I Love Most
What don’t I love about this space?! I love that Breathing Room is such a fun, positive, inclusive, judgment-free zone where you can come to just be you on your mat. It’s a beautiful space that has been built with passion and it shows. The Wednesday night Warming Soul Flow is my favourite class that really challenges me in my practice but never fails to make me laugh. And who doesn’t love being able to walk out of their class to enjoy a nice cold beer?
