Fitness Friday

Happy Friday, friends. I’m currently writing this at the kitchen table while a sniffly kid plays playdough beside me and the hugest snowflakes fall outside. I’ll be getting up to pour another cup of coffee soon. This week has not turned out as expected at all. I had grand intentions of blogging more and also getting out for some Halloween activities with the kiddo. Tuesday night Liam woke up at 3am whining and crying from a tummy ache until morning. Thursday night also resulted in a major meltdown at bedtime and today we are home so Liam can try and kick his cold. I’m wiped to say the least.

I also had intended to complete more than one workout this week but that just didn’t happen

30 Minute Hit


Off – I went to bed as soon as Liam was asleep

Off – After dealing with Liam’s meltdown until 9pm, I went to bed when he was finally asleep.

Hoping to get in some yoga while Liam naps or after he goes to bed so I can get my body moving and find some zen again.

Liam was pretty thrilled when I asked if he wanted to come to the gym with me. 30 Minute Hit has a great kids area where he can see me working out the whole time and there were a couple other kids there that he connected with immediately. He was actually upset when it was time to go and asked when we could go back again. I would catch him watching me throughout my workout and knew that it was good for him to see me taking care of myself. It’s important to me to teach him how important exercise is as part of our daily lives.

I would love to be able to take him to a gym with me regularly but even attending a 30 minute class after work took up our entire evening. By the time I picked him up from the day home after work, drove across town to the gym, finished my half hour circuit and drove home again, it was 6:30 which is when we are generally finishing up supper and starting to wind down and get ready for bed. Can someone figure out a way to extend our days to include more hours?!

This weekends plans were suppose to include Liam’s first jiu jitsu class, checking out the kids improv show from BullSkit Comedy and possibly a flashlight pumpkin hunt and pumpkin carving, but we’ll have to see how the little snot monster is doing. It may be a quiet, snowy weekend in.

    It’s just me and I feel like my evenings are like that!
    Barre at 6 or 6:30, start dinner at 7:30 or 8 and then bed. oof.

    Aww I hope Liam’s feeling better for his Jiu jitsu class tomorrow! I’m excited for him!

    I hope you both are feeling better for Halloween. I know how much you both love it. And yes bringing the kids to the gym would be perfect every now and then. Especially if there wasn’t an added cost!
