After work, I picked up my latest haul from my summer vegetable share. I’m getting excited about the winter squash coming so I can start making lots more soups and whatnot! I didn’t have enough time to hit up the barre class I wanted to check out, so I just went home to eat and read my book before meeting up with Cassandra downtown.
We had an invite to Bullskit Comedy’s VIP event since I’ve been helping them out with their social media this past year. It was so sweet of them to invite me to this event and I loved the sneak peak of the upcoming season. I can’t wait to get back for more shows and to take Liam to the kids shows. If you’re local, and have never seen Bullskit before, be sure to grab some tickets for a great night out.
I was up early and off to Liam’s swimming lessons before we hit up the market. I’m getting sad that there are only two markets left! Red Deer really needs to get a year-round market.
After lunch I got started on a little project, hanging another shelf in Liam’s closet so I could hang his shirts at his level and he can start choosing his own clothes. I don’t know why I thought this was a good idea since he doesn’t care what I dress him in and I’m a little afraid of what he may choose, but he is fully capable of that independence. He needed some extra storage in his closet anyways so it worked out great. My parents came by in the afternoon as well and we all ran some errands before going out for dinner.
We checked out Lokal Kitchen after hearing some positive reviews. I have to say I wasn’t 100% impressed with it though. The food was decent but it didn’t wow me and I don’t think I’ll be in a hurry to go back. Liam wasn’t on his best behaviour either so it was not the nice family dinner we had hoped for.
Once Liam was asleep, I crawled into bed myself and spent a couple hours reading my latest book club pick. This month we are reading North of Normal, a memoir about a girl whose family moves her from their home in California to the Canadian wilderness. I was skeptical when I first read the synopsis but have been hooked since the first sentence and hope to have it done by the end of the night (as I’m writing this Sunday night).
Liam woke me up around 7:30 by army crawling into my room and playing under my bed. We had a lazy morning colouring and drinking coffee until meeting up with Mary for Sunday Runday.
I didn’t have enough time to go home and change before meeting up with an old friend for brunch so Liam and I just headed straight to Roosters for our favourite family-style brunch. There was way more food than 2.5 people could conquer but it’s just so good that I can’t pass up an opportunity to bring new people there.
From there we were off to a birthday party for the afternoon. We came home to just hang out for the rest of the evening and both had early bed times.
What did you get up to this weekend?
