It almost felt like I had an extended long weekend because I attended a 2-day social media conference, Social West, on Thursday and Friday. I had so much fun there I kind of forgot it was work! I drove home late Friday afternoon when the conference wrapped up and had a chill Friday night at home. The rest of the weekend was spent with zero plans and therefore was super low key.

It’s not unusual for me to be having a hilarious gab session through group text with two of my best single gal pals from different cities. Our conversation usually turns to boys and dating or the lack thereof that we’ve been doing, which is ironically exactly what three pretty fine single ladies should be doing on a Friday night. By the way, Ange (one of said friends) wrote a pretty bang on post about online dating in 10 steps. Can someone please open a boyfriend store?
Aside from our little gab sesh, I mostly read my book, The Royal We, which I’m absolutely loving and can’t get enough of right now. I was worried that it would take me forever to finish since it’s a whopping 450 pages, but it’s been flying by!
I was able to sleep in a bit, getting up around 8 to get race ready. I was running the Troubled Monk 5k with a bunch of friends. I’ll do a full recap later this week but spoiler alert: I had a ton of fun. We ended up staying at the beer gardens until after 1pm.
I came home for some eats and a shower and was feeling quite lazy once all was said and done. I had intended to clean and run errands but instead ended up reading my book in bed for the entire rest of the day. Like, literally until well into the evening. Whoops.
I had tentative plans to go hiking with a coworker in either Canmore or Nordegg but the forecast was calling for rain everywhere and I wasn’t too thrilled about that idea. I had set my alarm for 7:30 to see how I felt and check the forecast but I barely woke up enough to send a text that I was out before passing out again for a couple more hours. Apparently all that reading made me super tired. Of course when I finally woke up from my coma, it looked like it wasn’t going to be as terrible as forecasted so I was bummed I missed an opportunity to play in the mountains. Oh well, sleep is good too.
Instead, I headed out to the lake to catch up with my aunt and uncle for the afternoon. It was definitely not nice enough to spend the afternoon outside but we had a good visit regardless. I came back late afternoon, grabbed some groceries, did some meal prep for the week and got the house cleaned before tackling laundry, blog work and retreating to bed with my book again.
And now here we are at Monday again. Hope you all have a great week!
What did you get up to this weekend?
