Oh hi there, remember me? I kind of accidentally took a blogging break last week. The last few weeks have been so busy and I was feeling completely overwhelmed so when I finally got myself caught up with some of my other projects, I took an impromptu break. I’m not going to lie, it felt really great to not come home after a day at the office and jump back on the computer again once Liam was in bed.
What did I get up to instead?
City & Colour
Last Monday, Mary and I hit up the City & Colour show. It’s not often we get bigger name artists roll through our fine city and it was really nice to not have to travel to see a good show. While it was a really good performance, it was much ‘bigger’ than what I’m used to seeing from them. I guess that’s what happens when artists grow, but part of me prefers the stripped down City & Colour that was just Dallas and his guitar.
I spent Tuesday and Wednesday doing nothing but reading after Liam was in bed so I could finish my latest book club book before our meeting on Thursday. I’m so thankful I finished in time because I was really worried about having my first DNF! Great timing on the choosing of our next read as well because that night was the last day for 5x Plum Rewards at Chapters AND our book was on sale for only $7.50 (hardcover). SCORE! I actually showed so much restraint with my order since the last bonus points weekend I spent $100 on books. Whoops.
Best Friend Time
Since our original Friday night plans had changed last minute, Liam and I picked up a quick supper to take to Cassandra’s house so we could have a visit and the kiddos could play. There was no photo evidence, but it was nice to get the kids together. Sometimes I want to steal the twins because they’re just so stinkin cute.
On Saturday, Liam and I met my cousin and his wife at Roosters as they were passing through on their way to Edmonton. On the weekends they serve family style breakfast consisting of fresh baked muffins, fruit and yogurt, French toast, sausage, bacon, hashbrowns and scrambled eggs. Everything was so fresh and delicious and for $14/person, it’s definitely a great weekend brunch choice. We actually ended up going back for lunch on Sunday with my parents. I have been wanting to try the burger bar, but at the request of Liam, we ended up sharing the pizza bar instead. All you can eat pizza is ok with me!
A certain mini human refused to nap, despite needing one badly based on the epic afternoon meltdown he had. We ended up missing the production of Treasure Island we had tickets for because of it. I badly needed to get out of the house by the end of the afternoon so we hit up a liquor store to stock the fridge with much-needed beer and popped into the pet store next door. I ended up falling in love with a labradoodle, who had come from a puppy mill and was the sweetest pup I think I’ve ever come across. I had to take my parents to see her on Sunday because they’ve been wanting a Labradoodle and we all want a puppy Liam can grow up with. Unfortunately, this sweet little lady needs a home where she isn’t left alone. If I could get away with bringing a dog to work everyday, this pup would be mine in a heartbeat.
Lots of Liam Time
It’s felt like Liam and I haven’t had a good chunk of time together in awhile, so it was definitely nice to spend some quality time with no real plans. While there’s always our share of threenager episodes, we manage to share a ton of giggles and special moments.
And that’s about all that I’ve been up to since the last time we chatted. I’ll try to be a better blogger this week, since I owe you guys a recap of the Calgary City Chase and maybe a little ‘What I’m Loving’ since I haven’t posted one of those in awhile!
Tell me, what have you been up to lately?!
Any exciting plans coming up?
Anything specific you want me to chat about in the next couple weeks?
