Weekend Recap

June 6, 2016

Oh hey friends. Wasn’t it a beautiful weekend? I ended up taking an unexpected day off on Friday to visit some family, had the time of my life on Saturday with my best friend, and had a much needed day of rest on Sunday.

Weekend Recap

My dad and I made a trip to Calgary to visit some family. We ended up taking back roads which made for a nice change of scenery since it’s about my 6th trip to Calgary in as many weeks. We ended up driving over the Dixon Dam which I’ve never been to before and now I want to go back and explore the area. We stopped for dinner in a little town along the way and had the best pizza ever before I got home and spent the rest of the night reading in bed.

It was an early start as Cassandra and I headed back to Calgary for City Chase. I’ll do a full recap on the race later this week, but we had an absolute blast. We grabbed a quick dinner and much needed beer at Rose and Crown afterwards. I haven’t been there for ages and was blown away with how good the food was. Or maybe I was delirious from not eating all day and being in the hot sun.

Luckily the drive home went by fast, as I was completely exhausted and in desperate need of a shower. That’s exactly what I did when I got home before retiring with my book again. My next book club meet is coming up fast and I’m in danger of taking my first DNF (did not finish), so I need to hustle.

I tried to force myself to sleep in, but it just resulted in me dozing on and off from about 5:30-8:30am. I got up and ready to meet Mary for Sunday Runday, which turned into Sunday walkday due to a sore foot. Womp. Regardless, it was still a great morning to be outside.

I had no plans for the rest of the day and I must say, it was glorious. I cleaned up the condo a bit, did a bit of laundry and otherwise tried to keep off my foot. I was a tad guilty to be inside instead of soaking up the sun, but I think my sunburn from Saturday is proof that I had enough sun for one weekend. I enjoyed some beer and accomplished some things on my to do list which means I’m going into this week a lot less stress than last week! PHEW!

Today I just need to make it through the workday and then I’m off for dinner and a concert (City & Colour). It’s not often we get good bands coming through here and it’s been a long time since I’ve been to a show so I’m pretty excited.

Hope you enjoyed your weekend and have a fantastic week!

Wow, you’ve been doing a lot of driving lately! Sounds like you should probably just move to Calgary ;). I can’t wait to hear more about City Chase – it looked super fun from all of the pictures I saw!

Hahaha I know, it’s ridiculous how much I’ve driven back and forth. I’d LOVE to move to Calgary!

Oh, good call on Rose and Crown. For a great place that’s super close to me, I continually forget it exists. Whoops!

Yeah!! It was so good. We were so exhausted and didn’t want to walk another step so we just drove over to 17th, found a parking spot and that was the closest place haha. Definitely did not disappoint.

The City Chase looked like so much fun! Where the clues hard?

There was a mixture of hard clues and easy ones. There was one riddle that no one we talked to could really figure out.

Ohhh back roads between Red Deer and Calgary sounds fun! You’ll have to share this way with me! What town did you stop in for pizza?

So jealous you’re going to City & Colour tonight!! They are one band I’ve yet to see but would really like to. So basically, thanks for inviting me. Ha! (I kid, I kid…or am I?!) 😉 Have fun! Are you going to have special VIP privileges? 😉

Good to know Rose & Crown is actually good! We have one here in Canmore but it uh… looks kinda old/dumpy so I’ve never been. It was great seeing you two lovebirds too!! 🙂
