I’m pretty sure it’s a sign of a good weekend when you come home exhausted on a Sunday night and fall asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow. That was most definitely me after a fun little girls weekend!
Liam requested a trip to the mall for some Jugo Juice after work, so I obliged and picked up some popcorn from Kernels as well. Once we were home, he wanted to do some yoga so I turned on some videos for him to follow along with. He’s seriously the cutest little yogi.
After Liam was in bed I caught up on Suits (omg so tense!!), Scandal and watched the first episode of Fuller House. It was definitely a good tv viewing night!
Liam wanted to do more yoga in the morning while I tried to get the house tidied up and ready for a weekend away. After his dad picked him up, I hit the highway to Calgary. First stop was to pickup my grandma for an afternoon together. We had a delicious lunch at this little hole in the wall called Two One Bistro. The pesto balsamic chicken flatbread I had was to die for! I couldn’t believe we were the only people there. After lunch we did a bit of shopping before I realized how late it was in the afternoon and that Brie was expecting me for dinner!
We had a great night celebrating Ashley’s housewarming with an amazing group of girls. I love that us Alberta Bloggers are such good friends and I love spending time with everyone. We spent the night eating, drinking and laughing at all of the inside jokes from Cards Against Humanity.
(I keep cringing at this picture. You know those photos where you feel super self conscious? Yeah. This one. I was having a cute hair day until it decided to rain and ruined my curls making them look super awkward.)
After the party, Kris and I headed back to Brie’s for the night. We stayed up far too late chatting, drink beer and watching old UFC fights with Brie’s husband.
Brie and I opted out of the group run on Sunday morning which was just fine with me since I hadn’t brought my running gear and the temperatures wasn’t as warmed as predicted for the weekend. Instead, we drank coffee and I made friends with Brie’s little boy Sully who is just the cutest. He was heartbroken when it was time for us to meet everyone for Body Pump at a nearby GoodLife Fitness.
While I’m familiar with Body Pump since I have the videos at home, it was even more fun to do with a bunch of friends. I pushed myself way harder than I normally do at home and I knew that I would be paying for it afterwards.
As bloggers do after a workout, we got changed and headed out for brunch at Bow Valley Ranche. I had copious amounts of coffee that I wished I could have drank through a straw to save my muscles from lifting it to my face, followed by Elk and Greens, which I chose not only because it sounded delicious, but because it was the one MealShare item on their menu.
I was planning to head home after brunch so I could get the condo cleaned, groceries bought and myself prepared for the week ahead, but Brie convinced me to stay and go to a movie with her instead. We saw How To Be Single, which I had zero expectations for and ended up loving! It was such a good chick flick and we both shared some tears at the end, which really caught me off guard. If you haven’t seen it yet, I definitely recommend going.
Allison had instructed me to visit Village Ice Cream while I was in the city, so we headed there after the movie. It was so hard to decide on a flavour because everything was so so good. We both chose Snickerdoodle and had no regrets.
It was sadly time to end the fun and hit the road back home. I’m so thankful to have made these connections through blogging and only wish that I lived in Calgary so we could have that much fun together more often! I can’t wait for the next girls weekend.
I got home sometime after 7pm and was completely wiped. I could barely muster the energy to unpack, throw in a load of laundry and melt into bed.
Tell me the highlight of your weekend!
