Halloween Weekend Recap

November 2, 2015

Hi there – a bit of a late update today because I was too exhausted by the end of the weekend to even consider staring at a computer screen. I’m fairly certain I caught a different cold just as I was feeling better last week so combined with a busy weekend, I was done.

Liam was so excited to finally be able to wear his Mickey Mouse costume to the day home for their Halloween party on Friday. I’m thankful for the photo our day home lady sent because it was the only decent photo of Liam dressed up that came out of the entire weekend.

When we got home at the end of the day, we curled up and watched the Nightmare Before Christmas together and just hung out before bed. I can’t remember what I did after Liam went to bed, but I’m pretty sure it involved watching Scandal. I’m still obsessed. Currently on Season 4 so won’t be long until I’m all caught up and can stop mentioning it.

We were up and ready for the day pretty early. Liam started his next round of swimming lessons. This was the first un-parented lesson and I was just a bit nervous for it. I imagined Liam would be either super clingy and not want to leave us or totally defiant with the teacher. He was a bit clingy at the start, but it didn’t take long for him to follow the teacher and the other kids. I had mixed emotions watching him in the pool without either parent. I was glad that it appeared he was doing well but why the heck can’t he listen to me like he does with everyone else. Sigh. Turns out he wasn’t a total angel since he wanted to do nothing but play with one of the toys most of the time. Since Layne came for the lessons too, Liam and him hung out for the afternoon and I went home to do some laundry, cleaning and grocery shopping with a quick stop at Fionn’s for a late lunch and drink.

I headed back over to Layne’s around 5 to get Liam into his costume and off for some trick or treating with a group of friends. The wind was pretty chilly by the time we headed out and Liam was over it pretty quick. He managed to get a pretty good haul and only wanted one sucker the entire night.

I failed at getting any photos.

We were home and Liam was in bed without a fight shortly after 8. I indulged in a nice hot bubbled bath before stealing a couple pieces of candy and doing that Netflix thing.

Ugh. Daylight Savings has to be the worst thing in the world. 5am wakeup was not fun. I convinced Liam to go hang out in bed since it was still ‘the middle of the night’ but he only lasted less than an hour. We got up and watched a movie together before I made pancakes and got ready for the day.

We had two different plans to meet up with his BFF Caden last week that both fell through so decided that we would head down to Calgary and spend the afternoon at Telus Spark. The boys were so excited to see each other after a couple weeks apart. We spent three hours running around the children’s area having a blast.

Telus Spark

We got home around dinner time and stopped at the grocery store to pick up something quick. I was very thankful for no bed time fight and for daylight savings making bed time a normal time again. I was so tired I was in bed early myself.

How was your Halloween?
What’s your favourite Halloween candy? I love Coffee Crisp, Fuzzy Peaches and Nibs!

Liam is just too cute in his costume! And so is him with his little buddy! I’ve never been to Telus Spark…is it good?

It was pretty good. The boys spent three hours just in the children’s section alone. It’s $13 for Liam’s age, which is pretty decent considering Treehouse is $11. There’s a section for 3 and under to play as well so might be worth checking out with Amelia?

Hahaha I consider 5am to be the middle of the night too! That’s way too early in my books! How was Telus Sparks…we’ve never been yet, I feel like Sully is probably too young. They have adult night once a month which sounds much more appealing to me, haha!! At least the one photo you got of Liam in his costume is super adorable!! Cutest Mickey Mouse I’ve ever seen. 🙂

I love coffee crisp and kit kat. Caramilk is delicious too. Oh, who am I kidding, I do not discriminate when it comes to chocolate!

Haha, well 5am is only an hour earlier than my alarm goes off. But Liam doesn’t know that. Telus Spark was good. Sully would have a good time there, the children’s section is really great. We didn’t leave that area for hours.

I’m with you, all the chocolate.
