Keeping Negativity at Bay with Dawn & Day Jewelry

September 22, 2015

If you’ve seen me out and about in the past few months, you’ll likely catch me wearing a delicate black necklace with nearly every outfit.

Since Dawn & Day Jewelry launched earlier this year, it’s been a struggle for me not to order all of their beautiful pieces. The girls behind the brand were so amazingly generous to offer me a necklace and it was a difficult decision which one to choose. I made my decision not just based on the look of the necklace, but also from some of the properties known to the different crystals and stones that are used in the hand crafted pieces.

It was a toss up between Amethyst and Black Tourmaline and in the end the Black Tourmaline won.

I was drawn to this particular crystal not just because most of my outfits are complimented with black, but for the protection against negativity that comes with the it.  It is said that Black Tourmaline not only protects but repels negative energy and is often used as a grounding stone as it’s connected to your root chakra. I’m not a spiritual expert, but I do know in a crazy world full of tons of negativity, that I could use a little protection against it.

The only downfall to this particular piece is that Tourmaline is incredibly delicate and I wasn’t warned about it upon receiving my necklace. It ended up breaking in half a couple weeks after getting it. Real talk: be sure to remove your jewelry when attempting some ‘stop, drop and yoga’ in the mountains so things don’t break when it hits the ground. I was devastated but ended up super glueing it back together, so don’t look too close when you see it in person.

I’m beyond thrilled with the edition of Dawn & Day Jewelry to our fine little city and can’t wait to add another piece to my collection. Dawn & Day Jewelry will be at the All Things Pretty Market along with a few other amazing vendors so be sure to go say hello and drool at all of the beautiful handmade jewelry.

Disclaimer: I was provided a piece of jewelry of my choice in exchange for this blog post. However, I really truly love this brand, all opinions are my own.

Beautiful! Were you wearing this necklace when we went for brunch? I remember wanting to comment on it, but forgot. I love the story behind the particular gemstone you chose (I had no idea – we really do learn something new everyday! 😉 ) Also, when do we get to see more photos from your photoshoot?!
