Easter Weekend Recap

April 7, 2015

This recap is coming to you a day late because I took Monday off to make it an extra long weekend (mostly because our day home was closed). I may have trouble remembering what the heck we did all weekend!

Our long weekend kicked off early when my day home called to tell me that Liam threw up everywhere. I rushed off to pick him up but he was in good spirits and clearly not feeling sick. We spent the afternoon watching movies and I sent him off to bed early. I stayed up watching Taken 3. Who doesn’t love a good Liam Neeson flick?

The usual weekend routine, breakfast and a movie before Liam’s dad came to pick him up. I had the house cleaned and was off to run errands by lunch time and had most of my list accomplished before meeting up with a friend for a late lunch/early supper at a new BBQ joint that recently opened.

I spent the rest of the night watching Almost Famous (can you believe I’d never seen it?) before hitting the hay.

I had big plans for Saturday: the sweaty power flow yoga class, followed by coffee and blog work at Dose, then groceries and home to pack for the weekend before picking up Liam. I was feeling super sluggish and decided just to chill out at home and rest. I wanted to take every precaution that I didn’t end up with Liam’s bug. I bing watched The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix and had a nap in the afternoon before heading out for groceries, packing a bag and picking Liam up. We hit the road to my folks place after dinner, where he slept the entire drive. He woke up and ran around like a crazy person for a bit before heading right off to bed. Easiest bedtime ever. The parentals and I watched Wild.

Liam was up bright and early. We started the day with banana pancakes and coconut syrup and then decorated Easter eggs after breakfast. We went the easy route this year and just had stickers but Liam was more interested in putting them on his arms than the eggs. We spent the rest of the morning playing outside, having some lunch and then playing Easter bunny after Liam went for a nap. The Easter bunny spoiled him for sure with a new scooter, a bowling set, chalk, bubbles and more. He was more interested in all of the toys than finding Easter eggs so we decided to wait until after dinner to do the egg hunt. By that point he had already stumbled upon a few of the eggs so the hunt was a little anticlimactic. Oh well. Someone wasn’t very interested in eating dinner and ended up having a bit of a meltdown, working himself up so much. We turned on a movie and had some snuggles after until he felt better. Needless to say, I did not eat too much of this holiday meal. It isn’t a holiday unless someone has a meltdown, right?

Shortly before Liam’s bed time, mom went to make tea for everyone and Liam asked for some too. Of course, mom gave in and gave him a cup of green tea and then wondered why he didn’t fall asleep until two hours after his bed time….grandparents, amiright? haha 😉

Of course, Liam saw no need to sleep in after his late night party. We were all a bit tired and kept it pretty low key, which seems to be the theme of the whole weekend. I had originally thought I’d drive home during nap time, but figured with the cold Liam had and the lack of sleep, I’d let him have a nice big nap and leave after supper.

Sorry for the lack of photos this weekend! Hope you all had a great Easter weekend spent with your families.

That is too funny about the green tea! My brother gave Avery some of his mocha one night when he was watching her and told me how crazy she was that night, go figure 😉
Glad you guys go to enjoy the weekend with your family, that is always the best part of holidays 🙂

We have Taken 3 and The Gambler lined up for this weekend. I watched Wild a few weeks ago and was supremely disappointed! I read the book and LOVED it but I thought the movie was just super crap and didn’t do it justice. Either that, or I wasn’t in the right frame of mind when I watched the movie haha.

See, I didn’t read the book beforehand so I really went in to the movie blind and I enjoyed it.

I read the book and saw the movie and loved both!! The book has way more detail, but I really enjoyed the movie too. 🙂

What did you think about Almost Famous? It’s one of my favourite movies and makes me wish I grew up in that era 😉

Sounds like you guys had a great weekend – nothing wrong with spending time with family, relaxing and watching netflix!

Only he replaced the stomach bug with a head cold 🙁 I’m going to be so happy when this kid grows out of this being sick all the time stage.
