Weekend Recap

March 23, 2015

You know what’s not awesome? When you have a whole post scheduled and ready to go for Monday morning and then you realize halfway through Monday that only half of it actually posted and you can’t do anything about it until you get home from work. Stupid WordPress!!

Another weekend come and gone.

Liam and I had a birthday dinner to attend and we almost didn’t make it. The terrible two tantrum hit because he wanted to go for a walk, which resulted in him being hysterical by the time I finally got him in the car. I figured since Liam was in the car and the restaurant was close, I’d just drive over to wish my friend a happy birthday and take cranky pants back home. He snapped out of his foul mood on the drive and promised he would be good for dinner so I risked it. We managed to have a great dinner. We were at a local Greek restaurant that has belly dancing on the weekends which Liam loved. He clapped every time a song ended. Adorable.

It was 9pm by the time he was finally in bed and I was amazed and thankful that he made it through the rest of the night without incident.

With the warmer weather, my condo has shifted a little and Liam’s bedroom door no longer sticks which means he can open it himself. I woke up Saturday morning to his little face peering over my bed wanting up. He snuggled into my bed and listen to him babble on about how cool my bed was and that he was ‘just really happy’, his new catch phrase. When he was done snuggling, we got up and watched Lion King while I made an epic breakfast of cinnamon chocolate swirl banana bread French toast. It’s a mouthful but damn was it ever delicious.

We eventually made our way over to Lindsey’s place so Liam and Avery could play with Lindsey’s husband while us girls hit up a handstand workshop at our yoga studio. The workshop, while a little more advanced than where our practices are right now, was super fun. I definitely learned a lot of things to work on and even managed to nail two poses that I never dreamed of being able to hold, eight angle pose and baby grasshopper pose. All I wanted to do was keep practicing all the things we learned!

I was so glad that Lindsey was able to come and that Chad was willing to hang out with Liam. He loves Liam and Liam loves playing with him and Avery. He was very sad when it was time to go home.

His dad was waiting to pick him up though, which meant I could get started on some house cleaning. I got distracted by an invite to Famoso so the cleaning ended up taking longer. I finally got it done in between random yoga postures and then spent the rest of the night catching up on The Mindy Project.

I originally had planned for an early morning Sunday Runday, but with all the snow we got, we decided to postpone until next week. I stayed in bed a little extra longer before enjoying another episode of TMP while eating breakfast before I was off for a little hair makeover with a friend.

I gave Nicki free reign of my hair in exchange for a couple cups of coffee and a good visit. She chopped quite a bit of hair off and added some brown, caramel blonde and copper highlights to it. The copper is different from anything I’ve had before so it’s going to take some getting used to, but all in all it looks really good!

Thanks Nicki!

After my hair was done, I was off to get groceries and meal prep. Liam came home in the middle of my meal prep, but was happy playing with the new sensory bin I had made him while I finished up prepping lunches for the week, as well as some muffins and pancakes for Liam’s breakfasts.

I was suppose to be taking the day off to take Liam to the zoo today, but the forecast was calling for Calgary to get a bunch of snow and I didn’t want to get stuck travelling on bad roads. Hopefully we can make it there in the next week or so. I’m really hoping to catch the penguin walk before it’s over, but not sure if it will happen.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and has a great week.

I always think it’s so crazy that the change in weather affects the doors inside! Made it really hard to sneak out as a high schooler (not that I ever did that!)

It’s so weird! And his door is the only door that shifts which is ever more weird!

Great job at the workshop! Super jealous because that’s one I would have loved to go to! Love it’s all Greek to me 🙂 it’s a favourite spot for Matthias and I. Liam is adorable and I get all weepy thinking about snuggling my own kid if she ever decides it’s a good time to enter the world!

Totally understandable. Could you take a day off during the week and join us? If not, we will go once you’re all settled and the weather is nicer!

Looks like we are aiming for Friday but Liam wasn’t feeling well today so we will see.
