Weekend Recap

February 9, 2015

Oh hi there. I’m just a little late getting this post out. It was an incredibly packed and exhausting weekend, but so much fun to be had! I will probably be trying to catch up on sleep for the rest of the week.

Last week was a busy one, between taking Liam to see Mike the Knight (a cartoon that had a travelling musical play), being interviewed on a local podcast, and suffering through food poisoning. By Friday all I wanted to do was go to bed. Friday was really low key. Liam and I snuggled on the couch watching cartoons before bed. Once he was in bed, I followed shortly after. Party animal, right?

Liam treated me by sleeping in until 8:30. I threw on some more cartoons (he’s obsessed with Paw Patrol right now) while I packed up for the weekend. We headed off to a birthday party for his little best friend from day home at the pool. Liam hasn’t been swimming in a long time and was so excited he was high pitched squeal giggling the entire time. I definitely need to make more of an effort to take him swimming. After the kids were done in the pool, it was time for pizza, cupcakes and gifts. Liam had so much fun running around with the other kids.

After the party was over, we hit the highway to Calgary for my grandma’s 90th birthday celebration. Thankfully Liam fell asleep in the car, even after all of the sugar from the cupcakes. We had rented out a party room in my grandma’s condo building and hired an amazing caterer to prepare dinner for the family. It was perfect because we still had the opportunity to mingle and chat, and Liam was free to run around being his goofy self. Liam had a blast entertaining the family (and the chef) with his goofy antics. Unfortunately I didn’t get any photos but we did try to take some group photos that I’m excited to see once they’re edited. It’s crazy to think that my grandma is 90 years old and has just as much energy as she always has. She’s probably going to outlive us all at the rate she’s going.

It wasn’t until almost 9 before Liam went to bed and I was ready to crawl right into bed beside him. We stayed in a guest suite right in the building and Liam had his own little cot to sleep in. I ended up not sleeping a wink because I was paranoid of him falling out of bed with no side rail (which he did). I also have a hard time falling asleep when there’s noise and Liam snores a lot. Needless to say I was tired come Sunday morning.

My grandma, Liam and I all went to a nearby hotel for breakfast before we packed up the car back home. Mom and Dad had stayed elsewhere and wanted to meet at Bass Pro. It was almost meltdown city there because Liam was clearly too tired and needed to go home. It wasn’t long before he was fast asleep on the drive home. I didn’t bother to unload the car when we got back because I was so exhausted. Liam wanted to play outside so I bundled him up to play on the balcony while I sat under a blanket on the couch watching. His dad came to pick him up shortly after. All I wanted to do was have a nice warm bath and go to bed, but I desperately needed groceries. I managed to get some groceries and a trip through Target where I scored some heels for work for $8 and a sassy red lipstick, amongst other various purchases! I’m hoping that there will be some bigger discounts on some big ticket items that I have my eye on in the coming weeks.

This week should be a little more low key than last. I will be back on the workouts tomorrow and have some great posts coming up for you this week. Hope you all have a good week!

Ugh. The new Noodlebox on the north end. It was expensive and meh and obviously ended up being not good.

I want to go to Target!! I’m trying to find an accent chair for my office and I know they have some cute ones there.

I’m sorry about food poisoning–ugh, that’s why I have a hard time eating chicken at restaurants now (I had a realllly bad experience!)
