You guys, in case you didn’t know it’s FEBRUARY! It felt like it was just Christmas, although maybe that’s because Liam still won’t stop asking if it’s Christmas-time and if he can see Santa. I’m feeling really good about 2015 so far and am excited to see what the rest of the year brings.
Liam’s day home closed early so I decided we needed a little ‘mommy/son date’ time. I took Liam downtown so we could try and find a scary mask to hang above his bedroom door to scare away the bad dreams he’s been having. Unfortunately we couldn’t find anything. We were successful in finding a snack and juice at our favourite coffee shop.
Afterwards we headed to the mall in search of new pants for him and decided to grab some take out and a new bath bomb for me as well. His dad was making the drive home but with the snow coming down hard, the roads were pretty bad and he was taking it slow. He made it here only to be defeated by my condo’s driveway, which was sheer ice. He ended up sliding over the ledge and wasn’t able to get traction to go forward and a car was half blocking the entrance making it so he couldn’t back out. It took him over an hour to finally get out with the help of some friends. Poor Liam was so sleepy, I just turned on cartoons for him to lay on the couch and snuggle until he was able to leave with his dad.
By the time they left there wasn’t much time to do anything, nor was I up for doing anything else other than watching the series finale of Parenthood and going to bed. Seriously, what a perfect albeit tearjerking ending to the series.
I was feeling extra lazy Saturday morning so took my time getting out of bed before pouring some coffee and curling up in my big comfy chair for awhile. When the coffee finally hit, I tackled cleaning and then headed out in search of some late lunch, make another trip to Target and get groceries. A girlfriend had twisted my arm into meeting her at the pub for a couple drinks and I’m glad I did. We had a good catch up and the band playing was amazing. They played an acoustic version of No Diggity that was too good for words.
I was up bright and early to play hostess to Sara while her boyfriend attended a job interview. Of course, when asked to showcase my city on a Sunday morning, the first thing that comes to mind is brunch at Heritage Ranch.
If anyone is ever in the area on a Sunday and wants to go for brunch, let me know because I have no complaints about showing off this local gem. It was a great visit with Sara and I wish her boyfriend all the best on his interview in hopes that they will move here!
After brunch I was off to meet someone for a little business meeting over coffee at, where else, my favourite coffee shop. The rest of the afternoon was spent curled up in my comfy chair, watching Pitch Perfect and catching up on some blog work before Liam came home.
This week coming up is going to be a busy one, but I’m really excited for what’s on the schedule. I’m taking Liam to see Mike The Knight Live on Tuesday, Wednesday I’m going to be interviewed on a local podcast and next weekend will be full of birthday parties. It’s going to be a good one. Have a great weekend everyone.
If I were to hang out with you for a day, what would we do?
