Hey folks. Been awhile since I’ve checked in. Been trying my hardest to get Liam healthy before the holidays and recovering from yet another cold myself. I apologize for the absence. To be honest, I didn’t have much to say anyways. But I do now, so here I am.
Who’s ready for the holidays? I know I am. Holiday stress? What holiday stress? This year I’ve really been focusing on being present with Liam and not getting caught up in the hustle and bustle. I started shopping early and kept my giving to a minimum. It’s not about the gifts anyways. This weekend was spent enjoying some one on one time with Liam and relaxing myself. Liam had spent a few days with my parents last week since he couldn’t be at the day home, and is spending three days with his dad for the holidays so I hadn’t seen much of him.
Friday morning we were having a Christmas breakfast at work and I brought Liam in with me. He had a lot of fun running around the office and eating his weight in pancakes. I wish I could bring him to work with me more often! I ran him home to hang out with my dad for the rest of the day. I ended up leaving early, since it was suppose to be an early closing day at the day home anyways. We spent the evening attempt to build our Frozen gingerbread Castle, followed up of course by watching the movie before bed.
Weekend mornings with Liam are my favourite. We always start slow and this morning was no better. I put on a movie and of course Liam requested Frozen AGAIN. We enjoyed it with a cup of coffee for mama and a cup of hot chocolate for Liam, with a side of extra marshmallows of course.
The rest of the morning was just as lazy. I made our usual French toast for breakfast and carried forward the hot chocolate ingredients, topping with marshmallows and drizzled with chocolate. We watched more Christmas shows and played until nap time. I napped while Liam did and it was glorious. When we woke up we baked some more cookies and made sure no chocolate chip was left behind. His dad picked him up shortly after supper and I was off to deliver some gifts to Cassandra and snuggle the babies over a glass of wine.
Sunday I was off for brunch at Heritage Ranch. It was fabulous except for they didn’t have the Eggs Florentine that I love so much. That just means I will have to go back again soon to satisfy my craving. After brunch I met another friend to FINALLY watch Mockingjay. I completely forgot how the last movie ended and what happened in the book but can say that I was tense the entire time. Do we really have to wait another year until the next one is out?
I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning the house, enjoying a beer and some loud tunes. I’m ready for a day and a half of work and then I’m picking the little man and off to my folks for Christmas. I’m so excited to have a few days off work, with absolutely no plans but to hang out and enjoy the time with Liam and my family.
How was your weekend?
Are you all ready for Christmas?
