What a whirlwind of a weekend! Nine hours driving with a toddler will do that. It was so worth every moment though, I had such a great weekend.
I took Friday off work. Liam and I spent the morning watching Frozen and Bubble Guppies while I got everything packed and ready to hit the road. We had a few errands to run in the morning also, which Liam was not up for. He ended up throwing a tantrum in almost every store we went in. In hindsight, I could have taken him to the day home for the morning so I could have got everything done, and picked him up on the way out of town. Oh well. My mom was in town and stopped in to have lunch with us and then we hit the road for the 3.5 hour drive to Lethbridge.
Kaella was so sweet to open her home for us to stay, even with her own little guy away for the weekend. Liam immediately made himself at home in London’s toy room while us mama’s caught up. Then we were off to Tawnya’s for a pre-race, carb loading pasta dinner and mini birthday celebration for all of us September babies. It was so nice to see everyone and meet some new blog friends in real life. I love the blogging community for bringing such amazing new friends into my life in the past couple years.

Kaella and I left around 8 since it was way past Liam’s bed time and I knew I’d have to wake him up early in the morning. Once he was down, we chatted for awhile before turning in ourselves. Unfortunately, Liam ended up being quite gassy and whiny in the night and I didn’t get much sleep.
I woke up in a panic because my alarm didn’t go off and I was half an hour behind. Not a good start to race day. I ate some breakfast in between getting ready for the race and trying to plead with Liam to eat something other than a banana. We were out the door shortly before 7:30. I will do a full recap of the race another day because I have so much to say about it.
After the race, we headed for brunch. Liam was already exhausted, nearly falling asleep on the short drive to the restaurant. I ended up ordering for us before anyone else because I knew it was only a matter of time before an overtired meltdown occurred. I definitely felt like I did not have enough time in Lethbridge and would have liked to stay longer. That just means I need to go back! Liam was asleep before we were out of the city and slept all the way to Calgary. I had hoped he’d sleep the whole way since he is a handful to entertain in the car.
We made it home around 4 to find my dad had just fixed my leaky toilet. Gotta love dads! I was exhausted by the time I got home and could only muster enough energy to cook Liam some mac and cheese for supper while watching Bubble Guppies. Mom of the year over here. I put him to bed an hour early since he didn’t get much sleep all weekend. He didn’t even complain about it. I curled up on the couch with my last Alley Kat grapefruit ale to watch Neighbours, which was a complete waste of time. Such a dumb movie.
Liam woke up chatty as can be in the morning. It was so cute listening to him. We got ready and hit the road to my parents since we had not visited with them for awhile.
That face <3
It hardly felt like it was a long weekend for me. In fact, I could use one more day to get caught up on life before going back to work!
What did you get up to this weekend?
