Weekend Recap

June 30, 2014

This weekend marked the start of my longest stretch without Liam. His dad has been gone so much that he took the week off aside from a course mid-week, and will have Liam most of the week. I really have mixed feelings about it. I already miss Liam so much, but him and his dad really needed some time together and I was overdue for a good break. Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about ‘my previous life’ and some of the things I’m really missing from it. With Liam gone the last couple days I’ve been feeling really empty and know that all those things I miss, don’t really matter anymore.  Anyways, let’s recap what went down this weekend shall we?

Friday was early pickup at the day home. I was surprised when I got there that Liam hadn’t napped yet, despite being up at 5:30am. He apparently was happy as can be all day so never went down. He was fast asleep in the car when we got home so I let him sleep until 5, when I woke him up. Let me just say, the rest of the evening was a disaster and Liam ended up going to bed shortly after. I will be posting about sleep habits later this week so stay tuned for that.

As I had to be up early the next morning, I ended up crawling into bed around 8:30, wild child over here! I couldn’t sleep though with too much on my mind and tossed and turned most of the night.

My alarm went off at 5am. I quickly threw on my running clothes, fried up some eggs and woke up Liam to drop him off at his dads. I made a quick stop at Starbucks and on the road to Calgary for Color Me Rad with some awesome ladies. I will do a full recap on that as well later this week.

After the race Danielle, Kaella, Tawnya, Jen and I headed to Hudson’s for some refuel. It was so nice being able to hang out with these awesome ladies again and meet Jen for the first time. She’s such a sweetie! Again, I’m thankful for the connections I’ve made as a blogger.

I headed home after lunch to do some laundry and clean my condo. I wanted to get it out of the way as soon as I could so I had more time to enjoy the cleanliness! Most of the time I clean my house one day and the next day it’s filthy again from the toddler tornado! I caved in two cravings and picked up some cereal and downloaded Season 3 of Suits on iTunes which made one perfect evening for this chick.

I really had no set plans for Sunday. I stayed in bed until about 9:30, made some breakfast and caught up on blog reading while drinking coffee. I set out to run some errands just before lunch, which consisted of picking up some black out curtains for Liam’s room (in hopes it will curb this 5am wake up business), groceries and a new coat for Liam. I finally found him a new leather coat since his is too small and it’s his staple wardrobe piece! Since it was fairly gloomy all day, I spent the rest of the afternoon watching Suits before heading out for a quick run, making dinner, and then back to the couch.

Honestly, it was pretty wonderful to just do nothing and relax. I’m not sure what I will do with all my kid free time this week but I feel like I should make the most of it. Anyone up for a movie date or yoga class??

Hope you all had a great weekend and an even better week!

I could imagine the mixed feelings but you do deserve and need a break! Single mamas amaze me 🙂
I’ve been looking everywhere for a cute rain coat for A with zero luck. Did you get his coat at H&M? I saw a cute one there.
When are you thinking of going to yoga?

His coat is from Superstore. They had a rain coat for boys, but of course I didn’t look at the girls stuff so not sure what they would have!

I wish I leaved closer– I would be all over a movie date or just hanging out in sweats watching tv! You’re doing an AMAZING job mama and deserve a few days to yourself– I know you’re going to miss Liam like crazy. I can’t wait to see him in that leather jacket!< STUD!!

Looking forward to reading your sleep habits update! As you know, London isn't the greatest sleeper. It may change someday.. or maybe it won't. I just like hearing about how other toddlers are and how parents are handling it.

Thanks for a fun day Saturday!! I'm so happy we met 🙂 xx

I would love hanging out with you if we lived closer! I’m finding it difficult to find people to hang out with when I’m kid free. All of my friends these days have families that they’re spending time with, and I’ve drifted away from my single friends. Makes for lonely times, but sometimes that’s ok too.
