Weekend Recap

June 23, 2014

Good morning friends! How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was suuuuuper laid back which was PERFECT!

Liam and I headed out to Heritage Ranch for a run and some playground time after work. I had planned a quick 3.5km so he could have some time to play before going home for supper and bedtime. It was a disaster of a run since he wasn’t interested in being in the stroller and threw everything possible out of it. We ended up losing his Babiator sunglasses that I JUST bought a couple weeks ago 🙁

The rest of the evening was spent trying to get Liam to go to sleep, which didn’t happen until after 8:30, an hour and a half past his normal bed time. It was a frustrating time. Once he was finally out I watched an episode of OITNB and hit the sack myself.

Saturday morning was another 5am wakeup. I am not understanding why this kid wakes up earlier on the weekend than he does during the week! It was raining when we got up so we spent the morning making pancakes and watching The Hive, Liam’s new favourite show. The mooring was hard with a lot of whining and tantrums and I was really struggling to not have a complete meltdown. Once it had cleared up, I packed up our bags and we headed off to the farmers market. Somebody was super tired (surprise, surprise) and fell asleep in the stroller which resulted in me wandering a very empty market for about 2 hours.

After he woke up, we hit the road to my parents for the weekend. I needed a bit of a break! There was lots of playing, stories, walks outside and giggles while Liam played with Grandma and Grandpa and I relaxed a little and watched. Much needed. When Liam went to bed, I didn’t last long before I retired to bed too. It was the longest day of the year and I couldn’t even stay up to enjoy it! Side note: I find summer solstice a bit depressing because then all the days start getting shorter again!

I did enjoy sleeping with the window open though. I live off a busy, noisy street and miss the quiet and freshness of the country side air at night.

Liam was up just before 6 I think. I took advantage of my parents being there to watch him and stayed in bed a bit longer, even though I was awake. It was long after I got up that Liam was in need of a nap so at 8:30 he went down and slept for 2.5 hours. Now if only he’d just slept in until that time!! Much couch sitting was done during that time.

The afternoon was spent enjoying lunch outside, watching Liam ride the tractor with grandpa and soaking up the sun before we had to come home. This week is a busy one for me but I’m looking forward to a couple fun events out of town!

How was everyone’s weekend? Did you soak up the beautiful weather?

Sounds like our boys need to get it together in the sleep department!! What the heck, hey? London always sleeps less on the weekend and my mom also says it’s because he knows we’re home and wants to spend more time with us, hahaha! Still it’s exhausting and I hit my breaking point Saturday!

Enjoy your busy week and see you Saturday 🙂

It was SO nice out this weekend, except Sat am. Love Liam’s shirt in the first photo.
Avery wakes up for good around 6:30am most mornings so I am hoping she keeps that up lol. I plan to wake up and workout before work when I go back so it’d be nice if she slept in a bit then too.

      That shirt is from Mexx!
Yeah, I really miss when Liam slept until 7 or 8 and I’d have to wake him up on weekdays to go to work!

Sounds like you had a busy and fun weekend! I went for a bike ride with a friend on Saturday and it was so damn windy and chilly! I’m glad Sunday ended up being a beautiful day though
