Running for the first time after a hiatus is difficult. Running for the first time after a hiatus, pushing an extra 50+ pounds is deadly. Luckily I had the perfect way to help recover afterwards.
Last night I took the new BOB stroller on it’s inaugural run. I think Liam enjoyed it, considering when I started running he said ‘weeeeeeeeeee!’, and when I would take walk breaks, he would say ‘go!’. I have a feeling this kid will be a good trainer in the coming months. I did my regular route, probably only covering 2-3km after work last night. I’m hoping to get out for short little runs 2-3 times a week and hopefully get myself ready to run Colour Me Rad in Calgary next month.
Since we rushed out to the trail right after we got home to beat the impending dark clouds, I was in desperate need of fuel when we returned. The Vega Sport Protein Bar was just what I needed until dinner. These bars contain 15g of plant-based protein, 2.5g of BCAA’s and 2g of glutamine to help your muscles recover, are gluten free, non GMO, and made with no artificial flavours, colours or sweeteners. Perfect guilt free recovery.
These bars, which come in chocolate coconut, chocolate peanut butter and chocolate mint, are a bit chalky in texture I found, but I find that with all Vega products. I was fortunate to receive a box at no cost as part of the #FuelYourBetter campaign through Sweat Pink, but unfortunate enough to receive the chocolate mint flavour which is probably my least favourite flavour combo. I would LOVE to have tried the chocolate coconut, in fact I’m not sure I could have kept that box around for very long. Regardless, I think these bars are a decent go-t0 for a post workout snack.
