Weekend Recap

March 24, 2014

Another weekend closer to my little vacation and I couldn’t be happier. I’m very much looking forward to getting away for awhile!

It was a stressful day at the office, but luckily it was the early pickup day at the day home so I left shortly before three. I picked up the little man and made a quick stop in to see Alix and all of her day home minions before heading to the mall. We were suppose to get a birthday card but got distracted by Jugo Juice and kiddie rides and left without the card. Oops! The funniest thing that happened was Liam running around the mall doing his toddler thing. He’d sit and take a few sips of smoothie, throw a fit when I wanted my own sip, continue running on his way, etc. I looked up to the entire staff of one store watching him, smiling and waving like he was some sort of celebrity. It was hilarious. I’m sure they see a ton of kids go by in a day, so I’m not sure why mine was so special. Ok, that’s a lie, of course I know why mine is so special!

After the mall we headed to Blue Dragon for a birthday dinner. I hadn’t been there for awhile and made sure to indulge in a three course meal: spicy squid to start, the Dragon bowl entree and deep fried bananas and mango ice cream for dessert. I was stuffed by the end. We had to make a hasty exit since it was way past Little L’s bed time and he was not happy about it.  Not much happened after L fell asleep, I’m afraid. I was worn out from the week and anxious to dive into the book I am in the middle of.

In the morning Liam watched some Bubble Guppies while I got ready and made breakfast. He’s starting to sing and dance along to the opening song which is super cute. I don’t let him watch TV too often but he was asking so nicely, hehe. Once we were done breakfast and all dressed we went to Alix’s for a play date. Too bad Liam was super cranky from his late night so we didn’t end up staying long. We got home just before 11 and he went straight for a nap. My parents were in town and we had lunch plans, but since Liam needed to sleep, they went without us and brought back some Lobster Mac and Cheese from One Eleven Grill for me. Mmmmmmm, it was so sinfully delicious! Liam spent a couple hours playing with Grandma and Grandpa before the left and we headed to Cassandra’s for another play date. Again we didn’t stay long because Liam was getting tired and cranky again. I threw together a quick dinner and Liam went off to bed early.

I did an hour long yoga session before pouring a glass of wine and soaking in a nice hot bath.

Sunday morning I made Liam and I some coconut banana French toast before I dropped him off with his dad. I almost wish I could eat that French toast every morning! Clearly this weekend was about over indulging on delicious food and that’s ok. After I dropped the kid off, I loaded up on groceries then came home to clean the house, do laundry and meal prep. I was done EVERYTHING by 3pm which was awesome.

The rest of the afternoon was spent catching up with The Gentleman on his recent trip to Memphis and New Orleans over nachos and beer at the pub across the street, some yoga, Netflix and new toenails. For the record, watching a super intense zombie movie (World War Z) followed by reading a book about the paranormal, makes for a bit of a restless sleep.

Fingers crossed for a less hectic, stressful work week!

Oh I need to go to Blue Dragon, haven’t been in forever and love it 🙂
So funny about Liam, he’s pretty darn irresistible!
I’d eat French toast every day if I had time to make it and didn’t care about my waist line lol. So yummy!

I have never been a french toast fan. I should try it again. Waffles on the other hand. Liam is so sweet, such a little man now!!

I wasn’t a French toast fan for the longest time either, until I made it myself! It’s such an easy way to change up breakfast, especially for Liam.

Sounds like a pretty busy (productive) weekend…. I keep hearing about this Bubble Guppies business from bloggers and friends/family with little ones and all I can think is thank god I don’t have to deal with kids television yet. I watched world war Z weekend before last… then made the mistake of coming into the lab by myself on Sunday night (literally noone else in the building except for the zombies my imagination created) bad news I tells yeah!

I find most kids shows to be so awful and annoying. I’m glad that Bubble Guppies is tolerable. I find it to be cute!

Oh man, I would have been so freaked out if I was you! Glad no zombies got you!
