Weekend Recap

March 17, 2014

How repetitive would I sound if I said it was another absolutely exhausting weekend? A little repetitive? Ok, I won’t say it then…

Friday was a rough, Murphy’s Law kind of days. My whole work week wasn’t the best and Friday was no exception. I was ready for the weekend by 9am. After work I went home to tidy up and get ready to trek to Edmonton for the night. I apparently had way too much on my mind though, because halfway there I realized I forgot half my overnight essentials. I turned around and crawled into a hot bath with a glass of wine instead before going to bed early.

I was up and out of the house by 6:30am Saturday morning. First order of business was the biggest Americano I could get my hands on. I was really thankful Starbucks was open that early. I was off to Edmonton for the iMedia Conference. It was a FULL day beginning at about 8:15 and ending after 5. My brain was full and mushy by the time it was over and I was excited to get home and put some of my learnings to practice. I will try and do a full recap this week.

After the conference I picked up Dori (my Edmonton bestie!) and we headed to Whyte Ave for dinner and drinks. I was really excited when she suggested Dadeo’s for dinner as I’ve heard so many good things but have never tried.

I had a blackened chicken po’boy with sweet potato fries and it was AH-MAZ-ING. So good. We spent the rest of the evening wandering Whyte and checking out a couple shops. Of course, no trip to see Dori is complete without a chinchilla snuggle.

It was about 10:30 by the time I got home and I immediately collapsed into bed.

As I mentioned yesterday, I forfeit a chance to sleep in to go for a run instead! It felt good to get the heart pumping early, even if I was still exhausted from the day before. Once I was home I had a quick rinse in the shower and headed off to pick up Liam. We met a friend at Chapters for coffee (for us) and playtime (for Liam). I also took Liam across the parking lot to the pet store. He loved the bunnies so much I think he wanted in their enclosure. I’m so excited to take him to the zoo this summer, I know he’s going to love it.

We left the pet store to go home for lunch before heading back out to get groceries, gas and wash the car. I had some things I wanted to do at nap time but ended up laying in bed for awhile myself. The rest of the afternoon hanging out with the patio door wide open while Liam played and I made dinner.

It was a busy weekend, as usual, but so great!
What was the highlight of your weekend?

Oh man, that sucks that you forgot stuff and had to turn around 🙁 Glad to hear the conference was informative and worth it 🙂 Still so jealous of you going to Dadeo’s!

Dadeo’s is SOOOOO good. <3 their fritters!

I am so not a rodent person at all. I managed to kill my hamster from over heating it outside and just had really bad luck with hamster bites growing up.

Then I thought it would be a "good idea" to get a hedgehog. Well it wasn't. It hated me and hissed every time I touched it. I finally gave it away to a day home (haha) and hopefully it got used to being held by little kids.
