This weekend was a bit of an unexpected extended weekend for me. Liam was sick again/still and I was home with him Thursday and Friday. His cold that has been lingering moved into his chest so he was doing pretty terrible on Wednesday. I took him to the walkin and got him some antibiotics to clear his chest up as well as a bunch of homeopathic stuff and he’s doing so much better now. So Thursday and Friday involved a lot cartoons, mega blocks and snuggles.
After Layne picked Liam up on Friday afternoon, I headed over to Alix’s for a quick visit. I spent the evening getting some house cleaning and laundry out of the way before settling in for a night on the couch with Casablanca, wine and the rest of my Valentine’s chocolates.
Saturday morning was the epitome of laziness. I slept in and migrated to the couch to binge watch some New Girl on Netflix while eating French toast and fried eggs. I took my time showering and getting ready for the day before pulling up some YouTube makeup tutorials. Before long, a girlfriend picked me up and we were on our way to Edmonton.
You see, Alix’s husband had been planning a surprise party for her 25th birthday for nearly a year and Saturday was finally the night. The last week had been stressful as she excitedly talked about her hot date with her husband, but wondered why she thought he was planning something bigger and wondering why he didn’t plan anything with her friends. There were many makeup, wardrobe and other crisis’ that needed to be discussed and it was SO HARD keeping everything from her.
Since we had arrived in the city a little early, we did a bit of shopping before I did a quick backseat wardrobe change into my dress for the evening. Some of the party attendees were running behind so Alix’s frantic husband had me call Alix in a panic about something to try and stall her. I felt horribly guilty for calling about such trivial, made up issues on her date night and only managed to steal three minutes of her time. It all worked out beautifully though. The look on Alix’s face when she walked into the Red Piano was priceless and I’m so glad she was really surprised to see everyone there.
Oh yeah, and The Gentleman was there…
The birthday girl with her amazing husband!
We had a great night eating some amazing food, drinking (maybe a little too much) wine and singing along to all of the song requests. If anyone needs a fun night out in Edmonton, you MUST go to the Red Piano! It’s pricey, but the fun is worth every penny. I can’t wait to go back.
Let’s just say Sunday morning was a little rough. I had good intentions of waking up for the gold medal hockey game but that sure did not happen. I’m so glad Canada won though!
After getting back into Red Deer, I got ready and headed out to a baby shower and then picked up my child who I was missing horribly. His cold was much better, virtually no runny nose or cough! The only downfall is the antibiotics are still upsetting his tummy and we have until Friday to continue battling the exploding diapers. It’s a glamorous life here folks.
