This weekend didn’t turn out exactly as I had planned but it was still pretty decent!
Friday was a loooooong afternoon at work stuck in a conference call meeting. By the time work was over I was ready for a drink. It worked out well because it was my department’s Christmas party! We all gathered together at someone’s house for drinks, surf and turf dinner, games and a gift exchange. We all had some good laughs playing ‘minute to win it’ style games. Let’s just say, bananas won’t ever be the same. The gift exchange was also super fun even though I didn’t end up with any of the things I had my eye on. I ended up with a pretty racy gag gift…
With the cold that doesn’t end, mixed with one glass of wine too many, I wasn’t feeling the best Saturday morning. Luckily Liam was with his dad so I stayed in bed until almost noon. I hung out being lazy until Liam was dropped off and then we set off to get his haircut!
I was a little worried it would end up being a disaster since he refused to nap all day and he’s so busy I didn’t think he would sit still. He was perfect! He sat so nice the entire time and came out looking like a total gentleman. I just can’t stop admiring how handsome he is with his shorter locks. And the curls! Gah, he’s just the best. After the haircut we tried for another nap but it didn’t happen so we headed out to meet Melea for dinner at Famoso. Since I’m not at Crossfit anymore, Melea and I don’t see each other much so it was nice to catch up over some yummy pizza.
I was so tired from the night before and still not feeling great, I hopped into bed shortly after Liam for another much needed 12 hour sleep.
Our usual favourite brunch spot was booked up for a Christmas Party all day Sunday so we ended up at the Red Deer Lodge for brunch instead. It wasn’t too bad but we didn’t stay long since someone had fallen asleep on the way there and was pretty fussy towards the end of brunch. Do you think he napped when we got home? Nope.
Instead Cassandra and Oliver stopped in for a visit and the boys were crazy playing. It’s so funny seeing them interact and copy each other. After they left I was going to head out for some errands and groceries. We got all packed up and dressed and when I picked Liam up to head out the door his eyes immediately closed. Fast asleep just like that.
I curled up with him in his room for awhile before we both started to overheat. I put him in his crib to finish off his nap while I did some work. I have to admit, while we were snuggled up together I shed a few tears at how much I miss having quiet moments like that with just me and Liam. We are so busy and on the go these days with me working, sharing time with Liam’s dad and trying to visit friends and family and run errands on the weekend, that we just don’t get enough of those precious moments anymore.
After he woke up I dropped him off with his dad, then headed out to run a couple errands and get groceries before a dinner date at the Keg. After dinner I watched Elf on Netflix while setting up my Christmas tree. I usually have a little mini tree but I figured I should probably invest in a normal sized tree now that I have my own little family. I lucked out and found one last weekend at Target for $20! December 1st is always tree putting up day so even though it was a late night, the tree got up! I’m excited to start collecting more ornaments now.
I also have to brag a bit, aside from stocking stuffers for Liam and something for Oliver, I’m already done my Christmas shopping!! I just have to wait for stuff to arrive from Amazon and I think I will start wrapping this week so I’m not rushing to get stuff done closer to Christmas. The more I can do now, the more I can enjoy the season with Liam.
What did you get up to this weekend?
Now, are you ready for the 2nd day of Christmas giveaways???
