Gah. I don’t know why I never learn my lesson. Every single time I write a blog post, Google Chrome crashes. Sometimes autosave works, sometimes it doesn’t. I was nearly done this post when Chrome crashed and none of it saved. Sigh.
Anyways, you guys I had the best weekend. It was off to a rough start but ended up being great. I ended up taking Friday off work since my day home was closed so I got a long weekend!!
Thursday’s are usually Layne’s nights to have Liam. He ended up having to work so he dropped Liam off before bed time. Apparently the day home said he was ‘sensitive’ all afternoon but he seemed fine for Layne and I. It was until a bit after he went to bed that he started crying in pain. I couldn’t figure out what was wrong. I assumed teeth but the normal teething stuff and Tylenol didn’t help. Then I wondered if it was tummy but gripe water didn’t help either. I called health link and they didn’t think he needed to be seen until morning since he was still dozing off every hour or so. It wasn’t until 4:30 before we finally got a couple hours sleep. It was a long, exhausting night.
When Liam woke up he was whiny and wanted to do nothing but cuddle. He ended up falling asleep snuggled up with me for a good hour or more.
Once he woke up, I noticed a yellowish brown wet spot on my shirt. My first thought was ‘omg his brain is bleeding’! But then I realized it was probably an ear infection and whisked him off to the doctor. We spent the rest of the day snuggling and napping.
We had plans to be at the market early but those plans were quickly foiled. As I was getting dressed (literally it took 1 minute), Liam managed to get into the bathroom cupboard, find my nail polish, open a bottle and get pink nail polish EVERYWHERE.
I spent the next hour scrubbing nail polish off him while he screamed bloody murder. And then scrubbed the bathroom floor. Lesson learned: buy cabinet latches and keep an eye on the busy TODDLER I now have. Also, can someone please tell me where my little baby went?
We finally managed to make it to the market where I enjoyed a pumpkin spice latte and loaded up on pumpkins and apples. I got an amazing new recipe that I’m dying to try and share with you guys while I was there.
The cutest market date
After Liam’s nap, his dad picked him up for the rest of the weekend. I set out to run some errands which included treating myself to a gorgeous new cardigan and jeans as well as a Target haul for some essentials.
Seriously in love with this cardigan.
I also managed to clean my house which was long, long overdue. I had hoped to get my Halloween decorations up but ran out of time before I had to get ready for a dinner date.
We had planned on going to Brown’s Socialhouse but there was over an hour wait so we ended up at Famoso instead. I had overheard my coworkers talking about how great the bisque was so I decided to try it out. Best.Meal.Ever.
Fire-roasted tomato bisque with The Wiseguy sandwich (Baked Italian ham, soppressata, baked prosciutto, melted provolone, spicy veggie spread) and a big old glass of red. Seriously, the best.
After dinner we headed back to Brown’s for some drinks where I sipped on a pink sangria. I’d never tried pink sangria before and it was perfect. A great night for sure but I was excited to get home and crawl into bed.
I slept in. For the first time since Liam was born, I was able to sleep in and it was glorious. I woke up around 10am and hung out in bed for another half hour or so before I got up to make some coffee. I put on Season 4 of Parenthood on Netflix, drank coffee and worked on my meal plan and grocery list for the day.
I had a few stops to make before getting groceries. I spent the rest of the afternoon doing meal prep, putting out some Halloween decorations. I was so excited when Liam got dropped off and we got to hang out for a little bit before bed time.
How was your weekend, get up to anything exciting?
What’s the worst mess your kids have gotten into?
