Before I get started on my birthday weekend recap, I just wanted to remind you that you have until tomorrow to entire the RISE Kombucha Giveaway!
So yeah, yesterday was my 27th birthday. Usually I’m super hyped about my birthday. I love birthday’s and being able to have a
week day that should be all about you. Last year however, was the worst birthday in my 26 years of existence. I was 2 days overdue with Liam, my boyfriend at the time FORGOT my birthday and I was just plane miserable. This year I didn’t care so much about my birthday. I just wanted to be with my family, have a nice dinner with friends and not make a big deal about it. I’ll put all of my efforts into planning Liam’s birthday party in a couple weeks instead.
Me, Cassandra and another girlfriend of ours headed to the Co-op Wine and Spirits Festival after work. This is usually a yearly tradition for Cassandra and I but we obviously missed last year. Tickets are about $40 and once you’re in it’s a sample free for all which can turn pretty messy. We kept it pretty tame though this year while still having lots of fun. My favourite new things were a watermelon beer and St. Germaine’s Elderberry Liqueur. I ran into an old friend there and was nice to catch up.
Unfortunately when I got home I had a sick baby who didn’t want to sleep on my hands. I think it was probably 3am before he finally settled.
After an all night party, I thought Liam would have slept in a little but he was still up at 7:30. We hung out and enjoyed the morning until his dad picked him up after his morning nap. I then slowly got ready for the day, staying in bed for as long as possible. I headed out to the Kraay Family Farm and corn maze for a friend’s son’s birthday party.
Liam got dropped off again before his bed time and I spent the rest of the evening catching up on last week’s episode of Sons of Anarchy.
Sunday – my birthday!
Liam and I had a nice morning hanging out together, eating waffles. I crawled into bed with my new favourite Kcup – Green Mountain Island Coconut, and relaxed with the rain falling until Liam woke up again. My parents arrived shortly after and we went for lunch at the new Brown’s Socialhouse. It was AMAZING. New favourite place for sure. The decor was so cool, very different than anywhere else in town and the food was super good. I can’t wait to go back! We took it easy for the rest of the afternoon since Liam was still fighting his cold.
That evening I went for dinner with all of my closest friends at One Eleven Grill. I had an amazing Boursin Cheese Tenderloin with green beans and smashed potatoes. Holy moly, I could have ate two if I wasn’t so full because it was just that delicious. It was a great dinner and a fabulous day. I feel very happy to have been able to spend the day with my son, my parents and my best friends. Not to mention, I got super spoiled: flowers, wine, candles, perfume and a freakin’ CAR STARTER!
I have a feeling this is going to be one of the best years yet.
What was your favourite age? I think 24 was one of the best years I’ve had that I can remember. 26 pretty much sucked so it can only go up from here!
