Weekend Recap

August 26, 2013

After a weekend of beautiful weather, it’s kind of nice to wake up to rain and clouds today. Makes me want to curl up in bed with a big mug of tea, which is exactly where I am right now! This doesn’t bode well for any housework and errands that could be done today though, but that’s ok, they can wait right?

The usual Food Truck Friday with Alix and the babies. We took our food to City Hall Park to let the kids roll around in the grass instead of staying at the trucks. It was a great afternoon to relax and eat yummy food. I just discovered the Parmesan Tater Tots from Chedda Heads. Liam and I both devoured them!

Later Friday evening I had an appointment with my friend Aimee to get my hair done. I was trying desperately to get a hair appointment all week before the weekend but my regular girl was busy and lots of other peeps were booked up. I was lucky Aimee was able to sneak me in last minute. I got it re-coloured back to my usual dark brown and had a few inches chopped off to freshen it up a bit. I’m actually kind of sad to see my Kardashian length hair gone but it feels really nice now. I’m going back in on Wednesday for another little something something too.

For once I didn’t have a race so I was actually able to make it to the farmer’s market! While there I ended up running into an old friend from high school whom I hadn’t seen for years. It was great to have a little catch up with him.

Once we got home from the market, Layne came and picked Liam up for the afternoon. My uncle had invited me out to the cabin for the day and since it was a beautiful day I immediately accepted! However, I felt bad that I was showing up baby free since I know they like to spend time with Liam, so I invited Cassandra and Oliver along so my family could get their baby fix. It was a great afternoon basking in the sun.

I was wiped by the time Liam was in bed so I crawled into bed early to watch some Orange is the New Black before packing it in.

The whole reason I HAD to have my hair done this weekend was because my cousin was coming down to take some family photos! I had been bugging my mom that there are NO photos of me and my parents since I was three years old I think. I have no pictures of my family in my house and I really wanted some. My mom is a photographer herself so she is always behind the camera and never in front.

We went to Fort Normandeau, which I had never been to before, and had some fun getting our photos taken. I can’t wait to update my blog photo and social media with some fresh pictures! Here’s a little sneak peak, I will post more as I get them!

After photos were done, we all went for lunch at Famoso. Liam had his first pizza and gelato and then proceeded to crash hard when we got home. Layne picked him up after he woke up, giving me a couple hours baby-free before it was his bed time. I was so tired I just wanted to nap even though I could have gone for groceries or something. I decided to text Melea to see if she wanted to go for a run instead. She suggested a bike ride since she had an extra cruiser. I was kind of nervous since it feels like about 20 years since I’ve ridden a bike!

Fitting helmet, isn’t it?

I was a bit wobbly and totally terrified when I first hopped on. The hills and corners were scary and I was afraid to shift for most of the ride. But by the end I was no longer afraid I would run into a parked car or fall off. I’m guessing we biked a little over 10km in an hour before Layne dropped Liam off. It was a lot of fun!

When was the last time you rode a bicycle?

Do you have recent photos with your family?

Love the helmet! lol. We had bikes and usually went on rides every summer but Chad sold his this summer to buy a new one and then never bought one. So no rides this year 🙁
I would love to get pics with my family, nothing since our wedding almost three years ago. Me and Chad have maternity pics in a month then Baby K will have her pics once she is born.
I know how you feel about your hair. Mine was no where near as long as your but I had to cut quite a bit off a couple months ago to give it a fresh start I eventually got used to it.

my gosh who is that handsome young man you are with!? 😛

I’ve ridden my bike a few times this year already, and still plan to get out a bunch more. Once you are used to it, its not so bad! I’m not scared of falling or running into something. If I had those shoes that clipped into the pedals, then i think i might die.
