I was lucky to have  no plans today and Layne was home so he could hang out with Liam while I went out for a run with Melea. I was half looking forward to it and half dreading it. Why dreading it? Because she said we should do a longer run. Um, Wednesday’s run WAS a long one for me. My longest to date. She wanted to do 10k today. Gulp.

We did 10’s and 1’s which worked really great. 10 minutes of running, 1 minute of walking. We started at Westerner and ran to Rotary Park, up the hill twice and up the stairs once before turning back. The first half to Rotary felt great but the second half I was powering out. I could have used some fuel I think. I was really struggling at the 7km mark but kept on going. I was lucky to have Melea there encouraging me to keep moving. The last two km’s were the worst and once we hit 10km I was done. There was only half a km before we were back to Melea’s house but I just couldn’t run any further.

There’s a good chance I won’t be able to walk later.

I’m pretty happy that Melea has been pushing me. I hope we can continue to get out running together this summer and maybe with her help I can beat some of my 5km race times. Suddenly the 12k Spartan doesn’t seem AS scary!

    Holy! Good job! You are a machine!
    I’m totally dreading the 4/6 mud hero next month as I’ve ran maybe a total of 6k since Oliver was born.

    Great job! It’s always better to have a friend by your side on a tough run. I didn’t run on Sunday but I made up mostly for it on Tuesday. I’ll be running tonight though- by myself 🙁

    I will be running this Sunday! I have to do 16K so no excuses.
