Fitness Friday

Hi friends. This blog post comes to you a bit later than usual for a Friday. Last night Layne and I had a date night. We went to the new Famoso Pizzeria that just opened this week for dinner before checking out the local cruise night and heading to see the late show of Lone Ranger. It was a late night after the movie and Liam was awake early so I was moving a bit slow this morning.

Onto my workouts this week:

Saturday
As I mentioned the other day, I met up with some of the other girls at the gym for Annie while they did Miracle Mile. Annie is 50-40-30-20-10 double unders and sit-ups. I did double skips and finished in 10:03

Monday
I did Monday’s WOD at home:
WOD (G)
7 rounds:
– Max Reps Hand Stand Push Ups
– 30% Squats
– 30% Sit-ups
I did Pike Press instead of hand stand push-ups. I can’t actually do hand stand push-ups and I don’t have any wall space to do hand stand holds so pike press was the next best thing. I did 5 pike press per round and 15 squats and 15 sit-ups per round. Coach Melea later informed me that I should have been doing more squats and sit-ups. I just don’t understand Crossfit math. I finished in 9:10.

Tuesday
Strength was suppose to be 4×5 deadlifts at 75% but Melea said if we wanted we could test for 1RM and you know I was all over that. My previous 1RM was 155lbs and I was hoping for a new PR. I got a little cocky when 165# felt good and tried for 175 when I should have gone for 170 instead. I didnt make 175 but it was still a 10# PR so I’ll take it.

WOD (MG)
7 rounds:
– 3 x 20m shuttles
– 30% Push ups
– 9 Box Jumps
This was a gross WOD with the shuttles. My main goal going into it was to not be the slowest on the board. As I was on the last round I realized that I was making pretty good time and pushed hard to beat Melea’s time and I did by 3 seconds at 10:40. Small victories.

We rounded out the WOD with some windmills and 39 burpees for the 100 days of burpees challenge.

Wednesday
Melea and I hit the paths for a run. We both need to step it up since my race season is starting in a couple weeks and she’s running the Sea Wheeze half marathon soon as well. We did the same route we did last time but with a lot less walking this time. I was having a hard time with sore legs from Monday’s WOD and my shoes were rubbing badly. I ended up with a blister by the end and was really struggling to keep going. We ended up doing 7.5km in just over an hour and I think that was the most running I’ve ever done! It was brutal but also nice to have someone there to push me and keep me going since I don’t think I’d ever make that distance on my own.

Thursday
I skipped going to the gym in lieu of date night. Date nights are a rare occasion around here so I was willing to sacrifice a WOD.

I’m hoping to make it out for a quick run tonight or maybe a yoga video. Tomorrow our gym is doing Fight Gone Bad with a BBQ after as a fundraiser for one of our athletes who was in a bad motorcycle accident. I hope I can make it but I have a few things on the agenda and I’m not sure if Layne is working or not.
