This past weekend felt both busy and lazy at the same time. Not sure how that’s possible but it was. Friday morning Liam and I headed out after breakfast to pick up my mom. Her car died so she needed to pick up a rental and go look into buying a new vehicle. My dad is on the rodeo committee for the Benalto rodeo that was happening over the weekend so she caught a ride with him and I picked her up from there. I stopped at Starbucks on the way out of town to try their new Shaken Green Tea Peach Lemonade and it was amazing. It was a little too sweet though so I will probably ask for it unsweetened next time.
We met up with my dad for lunch while he had a break. Went to Glenn’s which I hadn’t been to for awhile. I like it there. It’s got good food, big selection and bonus: free baby meal! Liam had some mashed potatoes, gravy and corn. The rest of the day/evening was spent just hanging out at home.
The security company Layne works for was hired to do security for the Benalto rodeo so he was gone working all night and was just going to camp out there since he needed to be there Saturday afternoon and evening as well. I loaded up Liam and I bright and early to hit the gym with Crystal, Meg and Catherine. I was excited it worked out for me to join this time. It’s always hard to get the two of us ready in the morning before nap time hits.
The girls were planning on doing the Miracle Mile, which looked gross: Ugh! Since they were doing all of it aside from the box jumps and KB swings outside, I decided to do Annie instead since I missed it last weekend. I didn’t want to leave Liam in the gym by himself but didn’t want him chilling by the road outside.
Annie is 50-40-30-20-10 double-unders and sit-ups. I did double skips instead. That’s a lot of double unders to try and manage. I’ve been warming up with double unders before each WOD at the box and I seem to be getting worse at them again. I finished in 10:03 with the best little cheer leader watching. Next time I’m gonna get under 10. I freshened myself up quick, grabbed one of the delicious WOD balls Crystal brought and headed out so I could hit up the Farmer’s Market. Check out my new RX Bar shirt! I love it. Fits perfect and is super soft.
Some people find that working out early in the day gives them energy for the rest of the day, but by the time I was home from the market I was pooped and ready for a nap. Liam and I didn’t get up to much aside from picking my mom up from the rental car place and driving her to the dealership to pick up her fancy new Ford Edge. I may have had a nap waiting for my mom to stop by after picking up her car. We ordered in some Japanese for an early dinner and I was so surprised at how fast Liam gobbled up what I shared with him. I’m not much of a sushi fan, but I love other stuff so I ordered gyoza, yakitori and tempura and shared it all with him. I could barely eat mine because he kept wanting more! Too cute.
Sunday after Liam’s morning nap we went to Sylvan to see my Uncle who has a cabin there. My mom also met us out there for lunch. We didn’t stay too long since Liam was getting cranky and needed a nap. My plan was to let him sleep in the Baby Hawk while I watched the rodeo. Unfortunately, Liam wouldn’t fall back asleep when we got to the rodeo grounds but he wasn’t cranky at all. I think he had fun and spent a lot of his time babbling loudly at the cowboys and pretty girls. Such a goofball
Liam was so pooped by bed time that he fell asleep before he could drink his bed time bottle! He even slept in an hour later than he’s been waking up lately. Score! I had even gone to bed an hour early since I had been pretty pooped the last few days. Felt good, even if I woke up a few times throughout the night.
Today is a bit of a productive day. I’ve already finished vacuuming, stuffing and putting away diapers, a home WOD, and this blog post while the munchkin naps. I also have to do some meal planning, grocery shopping and meal prep this afternoon. Have a great day!
Have you ever been to a rodeo?
