Yesterday was one of those days where you can’t wait until bed time so you can pour a giant glass of wine and indulge in some dark chocolate.

I’m not sure what was up with Liam but he spent the majority of his day screaming his face off. I’m not sure if it was tummy trouble, teething trouble, growing pains or what, but nothing I did would help longer than a few minutes. It was exhausting. I reached my coffee limit early in the day but was still feeling completely drained. I was in for a very long day.

Luckily, I received a sample of ENERGYbits and they somewhat saved my day.

ENERGYbits are made completely from spirulina algae, known to be nature’s energy drink. These little things pack a punch. I tested them out a couple times last week before Crossfit and they definitely fueled the high intensity workouts. The first workout was Tuesday evening. By the time Liam goes to bed at 7, I’m exhausted so it takes a lot to make it to the gym for a good workout after a long day with the kiddo. The ENERGYbits gave me the energy to make it through the tough workout for the evening. The next time I took them was before Wednesday’s morning Crossfit class. I feel like I completely motored through the workout without feeling tired at all. It was a great feeling.

While ENERGYbits are great for fueling a workout, they work just as good for fueling a tired momma prone to getting hangry (when you’re so hungry you get angry). I popped a few tabs which kept me going until I was able to get supper made. Layne even wanted to try some out before working a late night at his second job. He said it was like drinking an energy drink without the crash. The only downfall for me is that I’m not a fan of the taste so I swallow them whole, but I’m also not great at swallowing pills so it takes me 30 small sips to get the dosage down, haha. But it’s all worth it for the benefits these bits bring.

Made from 100% organicallly grown spirulina algae and loaded with 40 nutrients, ENERGYbits® algae tabs have the highest concentration of protein in the world (64%) all for just one calorie per tab. Endorsed by the United Nations as the most nutritious food on earth, spirulina algae has been a favorite of Olympic gold medalists for decades and is a super food in every sense of the word, delivering instant and enduring energy to your brain and body.

Um, yeah. These things are awesome. They contain a higher dosage of spirulina than the Nature’s Way brand Spirulina capsules for about the same price so if you’re interested in trying these out, they are definitely worth ordering.  Especially now, if you use the code BOSTONSTRONG you can save 10% on your order and $26.2 will be donated to The One Fund in support of the Boston Marathon tragedy. Layne and I will be placing an order for sure so we can continue to be #poweredbybits.

Want to know something else awesome? That chocolate bar pictured about also contains spirulina!

What’s your favorite way to fuel for a workout or a long day with the kids?

Have you ever tried algae?

Interesting! I love that chocolate by the way, or did – sadly pregnancy turned me off chocolate 90% of the time 🙁
Usually a protein shake, I used to mix one with instant Starbucks VIA, almond butter, chocolate protein, a banana and almond milk!

It’s so good. I wasn’t sure about it at first but tried it and loved it. I haven’t tried any other flavors yet. Don’t worry, your chocolate love will come back in a few months!

Wait… do you seriously have to have 30 of them as one dose? that seems a bit ridiculous… otherwise a great idea. (also wine and chocolate)

30 is the suggested dosage, you can take as many or as little as you want. It does seem a little silly to take so many when they could have just made them bigger or something though. Either way, they work good and have so many benefits.

I love my ENERGYbits! I’ve been needing something for fuel when running and biking, and my stomach doesn’t agree with the gels and stuff, just too much crap in them, so I love the bits!

I’ve never tried any gels or anything, but I have a bunch in my pantry. I like to find natural options so these things are awesome!
