13.3

Last night was a friends birthday so a bunch of us got together for sushi. While there I realized I had missed the announcement for 13.3 and immediately checked what the WOD was going to be. My heart sank a little. It was a repeat of one of last year’s open workouts.

Workout 13.3

12 minute AMRAP of:
150 Wall balls
90 Double-unders
30 Muscle-ups

Crap.

Wall balls I can do. Wall balls that require you to squat below parallel and throw a 14# ball 9′ every time, one hundred and fifty times. Gross. And if you’ve been following my Crossfit adventures for any amount of time, you know that double unders and I aren’t friends. And then there’s muscle ups, but we won’t even go there.

Going in I figured I could get through the wall balls and work on getting a few double unders. My strategy was to break the wall balls down into tens with little breaks to catch my breath in between. Apparently my intentions were a little too ambitious…

Brutal

Those stupid wall balls just ended up being way harder than I thought. Whenever I’ve done them in a WOD I’ve always focused on getting the ball to hit the line, not be completely over the line. That extra distance made it so much harder. I’m really disappointed I didn’t do as well as I had hoped.

But Coach Melea had a good point on Twitter today

From the sounds of things in the Twitterverse, it sounds like it just wasn’t a good day for workouts period. Must be this stupid Spring storm we had. Either way, I hope 13.4 is better than this one!

    Sorry the workout didn’t go as well as you had hoped. I seriously hate wall balls, so glad I didn’t sign up for the open! I think I’d like them more if I was a couple inches taller 🙂
