Last Weekend of February

February 24, 2013

Another decent weekend down, although it definitely ended better than it started. Friday the day started with an hour and a half long screaming fit from Liam when he went down for his first nap. Brutal. He was cranky from his shots still and I noticed two little white spots on his bottom gums so I suspect teeth might be bugging him a bit too. My mom had a few things going on in the city so she was around for a bit in the morning and afternoon to cuddle Grouchy Pants too. Cassandra and Oliver came to play but it wasn’t the best play day. Liam just started crying every time Oliver made a noise. Silly babe.

Friday night Layne and I just chilled at home and watched Machine Gun Preacher on Netflix. It was a super good movie and if you haven’t seen it yet, I recommend watching. Unfortunately, I was having a hard time keeping my eyes open so I missed the last 25 minutes.

Saturday Cassandra and I wrapped up the boys and walked to the new Starbucks that opened near her house. The wind was a bit chilly but it was a nice walk. The new Starbucks has a patio that I imagine us walking to and chilling out on often this summer. I sooooo can’t wait for summer! We have been spoiled with fairly decent weather the past couple months and it feels like spring should be just around the corner. Fingers crossed.

Turns out the coffee I drank was too late in the afternoon and I was pretty wired well into the evening. I spent nearly four hours straight working on blog stuff. I’m working to make it easier to find stuff, updating my menu and pages. It’s still a work in progress, but check them out and let me know what you think. I’d love your feedback on what you’d like to see going on with my blog!

Sunday was the usual brunch trip. We went to check out Mohave Grill as per Lindsey’s recommendation. I can’t wait to do up the review on this one since it might just be the best brunch spot in the city! Afterwards Layne and I made a stop at Starbucks before coming home. I left the boys at home to go off grocery shopping. I was surprised at how little I managed to spend. I spent the rest of the afternoon prepping food for the week.

While I was putting Liam to bed, Layne cooked us a delicious Whole 30 approved dinner, another recipe from the Practical Paleo book. So far the recipes we have tried from there have been big winners and I’m excited to try something new again next week.

Now here I am on the couch, updating the blog. No Oscar viewing for me tonight.

What was the last good movie you saw?

Currently Listening To: Mumford and Sons – ‘I Will Wait’ – I’ve been jamming to this song all weekend.

I saw Safe Haven last Friday & loved it. But its a girly movie 😉
So happy you liked Mohave! We usually only get there once or twice a year but its enough to convince me to not try anywhere else.

Check out farmageddon and Food Inc. Make you think twice about where your food comes from and how much of a joke government food agencies are.

I’ve seen Food Inc (the book is WAY better), but not Farmageddon yet. Vegucated and Hungry For Change were both really good if you haven’t seen them. Really makes you think about your food. This is why I strive to buy local as much as I can.

I read all the blogs I follow from the bloglovin app on my phone. It takes the text and puts it all in the same font/size etc. So any changes made to the actual webpage go in noticed by me. I am curious to know how many people sit in front of an actual computer and use a web browser to read blogs. It seems so 2007 to me :p

I use Google Reader to read all of the blogs I follow. But I still like to go to the actual sites, there’s a lot of great stuff on blog sites that you don’t see by subscribing!
