Long Weekend Recap & Giveaway Winner!

February 18, 2013

Today was Family Day which means long weekend! Of course, all long weekends mean for me is that Layne is home an extra day.

Saturday Layne left town for a birthday party so it was just Liam and I for the majority of the weekend. My parents came in and we did some running around (Costco, Bulk Barn, Chapters) and hit up State and Main for lunch. I had scoped out the menu before going to see what I could eat on Whole 30. I went with a salmon BLT minus the bread with mixed greens on the side. The salmon was really good but they forgot my bacon!! I made sure to tell the waitress because I wasn’t missing out on that!

Sunday was the usual brunch. We went to a new-to-us place, ABC Country. Unfortunately, Liam was being a cranky pants and I didn’t get to enjoy the company much. I decided to start a review of all the brunch buffets in Red Deer since we go out every week so stay tuned for that feature! Liam and I hung out at home waiting for Layne to get home. He ended up being later than anticipated which meant I missed a bachelorette dinner for my friend Alix. Alix, I’m still sorry I didn’t make it, but I’m sure looking forward to your wedding next month!

Today was a slow start. I have been feeling more tired than usual this weekend so I slept an extra hour or so while Layne got up with Liam. Once I finally got myself organized I headed out for some groceries. Then we had a coffee date at the Chapters/Starbucks where we picked out some new bed time stories for Liam. We made a stop at the mall too so I could look for a new phone case, but we got distracted looking for a cute new outfit for Liam. We were unsuccessful on both accounts.

We came back to cook dinner and prep food for the week. I was sent a copy of Practical Paleo to review and we made the Spaghetti Squash Bolognese from it. SO YUMMY! I’m excited to try some new recipes from it. It always surprises me how well Layne cooks and how much he enjoys it. He wants to join me in my Sunday cooking fest, which makes me incredibly happy!

Now we are just vegging, watching some Netflix!

And before I sign off for the night, it’s time to announce the Clean Eating Giveaway winner!  Congratulations Amie!
