Winter Night Lights

November 17, 2012

Last night I was invited over to a girlfriend’s place for wine and hang out with her and another friend who has a son just two weeks older than Liam. I have been getting out and about more often by myself now and it feels so good to get out and socialize. I had a great time visiting and watching the boys hanging out on the floor together.

Landon & Liam

Landon was being such a ham with nothing but smiles, giggles and babbles. Liam is the quiet observer and will just sit and stare at stuff. He eventually joined in the smiles and quiet babbling, but nothing compared to Landon. I’m so lucky to have a chill baby! I can’t wait to get the boys together again!

Now to rewind a bit. On Wednesday Layne and I left Liam in the capable hands of our best friends to spend some time together on our first date night since Liam was born. I was invited to preview the new sleigh ride tour at Heritage Ranch as part of their media night.

We arrived just before our ride time of 6:30 and were greeted at the corral entrance by manager Joel Martens. After signing waivers, we were offered hot chocolate and fresh cinnamon buns before climbing aboard the wagon and snuggling under a blanket.  The trail was the usual trail they use for the carriage rides, but what made it special was the Christmas lights that adorned the trees along the way. It was beautiful and the half hour ride went by way too quick. Unfortunately I only had my iPhone with me so I wasn’t able to get any pictures. That just means you will have to go and check it out for yourself!

After the ride it was time to warm up and grab some dinner. We decided to stay at the ranch and check out the Mexican taco bar night. I absolutely loved it! The taco bar was awesome and even better was the entertainment. Two adorable Mexican men serenaded the restaurant with their guitars non-stop the entire time. I loved them! The best part? When they sang the Macarena. Gosh I haven’t heard that song in YEARS! It was hilarious.

We didn’t stay too long after dinner. I think were both too tired and missed the little monkey so we headed home. Even though it was short, it was a great date night and I would definitely do it all over again.

The Winter Night Lights tour runs every evening starting at 4pm and runs until the New Year. Check out the Heritage Ranch website for all the details and to book your ride. Rumor has it spots are filling up quick so if you want to take your love on a romantic date, make sure you get in soon!
