My favorite Saturday morning routine is to roll out of bed for the Saturday morning Crossfit class. Saturday morning’s are a free class at my gym and because of that the workouts are more intense than usual. I put on my green New Balance workout tank and was ready to tackle the Amazing Race style workout.
15 Kettlebell swings
15 dumbell thruster
15 sit ups
15 box jumps
After completing the homebase workout you had to do one of the “Road Block” workouts, the repeat until you finished all four Road Blocks.
Row 750m or 50 Double unders
15 hand stand pushups or 50 squats
50 pushups or 25 pull ups
50 walking lunges or 25 burpees
It was a killer, took me 25 minutes to finish it all! But to reward myself for Saturday morning workouts, I come home to make protein pancakes. I usually follow this recipe but after my best friend discovered a paleo pancake recipe she couldn’t stop talking about, I knew I had to try. And surprise, surprise, it’s another Pinterest recipe! The original recipe can be found here.
It’s SO simple! One banana, one egg, some nut butter, and whatever spices you want to add. I added a dash of cinnamon and a tiny bit of coconut extract. I topped it with a bit more peanut butter and a sprinkle of my latest obsession, the Aloha Blend Love Crunch granola (which I realize isn’t Paleo, but hey, I’m not doing the Paleo challenge!). Holy moly. This breakfast is to die for! You all need to go and make them RIGHT NOW!
This definitely makes me love my Saturday morning routine even more. It’s nice to have a little breakfast treat that’s different from my daily bowl of oatmeal. I can’t wait for next week’s killer workout and pancakes to follow!
