Vow to Cook New Things

It’s March 1 already. How did that even happen?

I apologize that I’ve kind of fallen off the blogging bandwagon. I’d like to say that it’s because I’m so busy doing so many awesome things, but that would be a filthy lie. I’ve taken on some near daily writing for work, which makes it really hard to find motivation to come home and do more writing. I’ve also been really tired with not a lot of energy lately, so it’s all I can do to stay awake in my free time at home. I’ll save that explanation for a later date.

If anyone follows me on Twitter, you may have noticed that I kind of fell of my February Fitness Challenge wagon too. Whoops. I don’t even have a good excuse for it. I just quit, in like the first week. The monthly challenges seemed fun at the time, but after three months of them, it just got boring. So, enough for that idea. But I do have a new challenge for myself for March, not fitness related.

Cooking! I am not going to lie, I’m not very good in the kitchen. That doesn’t mean I don’t know HOW to cook, because I can, I’m just lazy. I am used to cooking super clean foods in large batches and eating the same thing three times a day for a week. This works for me, because it’s so difficult to buy groceries and cook for just one person without wasting a bunch of food. My appetite and eating habits have changed greatly the past few weeks and I can’t seem to eat the same as I was. My body is screaming it’s time for a change. I need some variety, new foods. It’s time to start cooking new things.

With my current Pinterest addiction, I’ve been pinning tons of new healthy recipes to try. Only problem is that I pin them and then forget about them. I’m on a mission to start cooking real food, different things than the same 4 meals I rotate through. I’m starting this weekend, I plan to bust out the mini crock pot my best friend gave me to make a sweet potato chili.

Hopefully I will be able to report back that it was a success and that I have a new recipe to try!

P.S. You may have noticed there’s a bit of a new look to the blog. It’s still a work in progress while my graphic designed (aka Mom) and I come up with some sort of header idea. Neither of us can come up with anything that really defines me and The Bex Factor. If you have any ideas, suggestions or things you’d like to see changed/improved for my blog, please leave your feedback. I want to make this as reader friendly as possible! Which means I’m also trying to work on making this smart phone friendly as well! YAY!

    first of all, way to go Mom! i hope you read this!

    Of course i’m on pinterest! my bf thinks i’m slightly addicted, although since we got home from Mexico, i definitely haven’t been spending as much time on it, i’ve gotten back into daily homework and now blog planning! (Eeee, exciting stuff to come)
    I need to get into cooking more forsure, i need to start eating much better, especially with my training for a half marathon and triathlon this year.
    I look forward to your success and seeing a new recipe!
