Calgary to Manchester

June 11, 2011

Today has gone by so fast. I woke up early for a quick Body Rock workout and last minute packing before my parents picked me up for the airport. Once arriving in Calgary we stopped at Earl’s for lunch where I enjoyed a delicious Parmesan Chicken Rocket salad, my favorite dish. I also decided to try a white Sangria for the first time which was delicious considering I’m not a huge fan of wine. Perhaps my little tastes buds are growing up and I’m finally acquiring the taste!

Everything moved quick after that. Unfortunately for me the tiny little suitcase I neatly packed in an attempt to travel carry on only was too heavy. It was only 10 frickin pounds! Seriously people, this was a huge feat for me since my regular suitcase is HUGE and I always overpack, typical girl. The no carry on was no big deal though.

Despite having to be at the airport three hours early the wait flew by. I grabbed a venti iced americano from Starbucks and nestled into a seat by the sun to people watch and get some last minute texts and emails in.

Once on the plane shortly after 3 the pilot announced it was 10:20pm in Manchester. Gosh, the day really did fly.

I thought it was awesome there were little pillows and blankets with a bottle of water on each of the seats. Although I wonder what kind of goods first class got :-/

I bought myself some snacks but was feeling the hunger kick in already before take off. I could wait until the on board meal which we got a few hours in. It was so cute!!

The hot meal was the tiniest portion of chicken and veggies with four little cubes of potato. I have a feeling im going to be hungry in another hour. I devoured that and moved onto part two. A box with cheese and crackers, melon and pineapple, a dinner roll and an apple custard dessert.

The next few hours I was nose deep in ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ mixed with a bit of dozing off.

Closer to landing we were served tiny muffins and juice. Landing was a little rough. I have a pounding headache that I can’t shake. I’m currently sitting in a cafe in the Manchester airport eatin a delicious breakfast of fruit and granola with a giant Americano. I have about 4.5 hours until I can check in for my flight to Dublin so this cafe might get sick of me.
